Hyundai Santa Fe / Kia Sorento 2024

Another few more things of interest:

1) No onboard navigation or maps.  Navigation is solely through phone mirroring (Android Auto or Carplay).

2) No OTA updates because no onboard sim.

3) No speed limit sign recognition, because no on board navigation.  This is a good thing since apparently thr car will complain at you when you go slightly over speed limit.

I think Kia had Bose standard in their Sorento SX Tech Pack.  Also had HUD as standard in their sole trim level for hybrid.

To be fair I think Komoco's did spec in some things that other markets don't have.  For example the AU Calligraphy hybrid doesn't come with:

1) Electric operated steering column.

2) Two pin electricity point (which I think is pretty cool).

I know minor, but at least something.  And there are some things that are totally pointless in this car, like heated seats for four seats and heated steering wheel.  I know they can't remove these features, but what a waste.

Yup, for heated seat only it will also come with heated steering wheel as a package, AD cannot opt that out.

As for ventilated seats, it will also come with heated seats + heated steering wheel as it’s a full package when AD select specification.

Same as KIA, they both brother and sister with Hyundai coz I did ask C&C AD when bought the NIRO.

1. No onboard navigation for SG market only via Wired and Wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for maps features.

2. No OTA software update for infotainment system. If any, I will need to go back C&C during servicing to update it but so far no update. 🤣

3. Same, no speed limit sign recognition as well because there is no onboard navigation.

4. No KIA connect for any new car sold as there is issue with the remote access but can indicate interest to go back to install in future thus I lazy to go back so never opt for it and there is subscription fee after 2 years.

I've just realised that without onboard maps, then it means the Santa Fe does not have HDA2, level 2 self-driving.

That's sad.  It was something I would've looked forward to, even if I would probably never use it.

Pay hundreds and thousands of dollars for a car in SG, and we get none of the cool stuff.

@GTO-1 just curious how come different trims requires different homolagation? Thought it’s a process only for a model and not different even for other trims

Yup likely, HDA2 allow it to assist in auto lane change while using smart cruise control. Even my top spec NIRO now is HDA v1. Other countries NIRO got 18” wheels, HUD, smart cruise control with speed limit recognition, key fob with remote start and 8 speaker premium sound. Come to SG all gone, pay more than others yet features got remove and cannot even indent for it.

Once you got smart cruise control with lane keep assist (auto center the vehicle and even turn in bends) support by lane departure warning and blind spot assist, so much relax in driving on the highway. Just chill only and prep right leg on brake pedal only and hold lightly on the steering to assist more turn if needed.

Apparently not the case.  If it's the same with all dealers, then that explains why we have so few trims to choose from in SG.

@GTO-1 SG really sucks. Would love to have FULL features for the price and taxes we pay. As for heated seats and other "pointless" features, I would like to have them all too.

@Infernolord 220NM of torque - decent i guess. think hp not that important in singapore anw..

VW Singapore nerfed the Tiguan to get it into CAT A, like BMW did foe the X1.

Probably good for most people.  I would constantly have buyers remorse every time I press on accelerator.

@VWenthusiast that’s what we have been “ conditioned “ to accept underpowered cars and say they are “ good enough “ for Singapore. To me driving an underpowered or downtuned car is just unbearable..

@thebestbees  i guess to most comfort in the car is more important? cant really do much with all that power when traffic is congested and roads are filled with traffic cameras and speed limit on roads is 60-90kmph 😂
