How come the Nissan Serena e-Power hybrid does better at 20.4km/L and can easily sit 8 pax? Also the Nissan is $70k cheaper? Understand I'm comparing SUV vs. MPV, but both are big vehicles designed to move a lot of people from A to B. ↡ Advertisement
duckky25 Clutched June 20 Share June 20 @steveting99 Santa Fe has longer length and width. Higher BHP at 215 instead of 161 on Serena. 1.59L instead of 1.43L. 4 cylinder + TURBO instead of 3 and no turbo. 20 inch rims instead of 16. 2 sunroof instead of none. You get the point. Santa Fe has higher overall specifications and technology as well. Only drawback is Japanese Hybrid system tends to be better and hence more fuel efficient. Fellows 4th Gear June 20 Share June 20 (edited) @steveting99 You comparing the Santa Fe with the crap Nissan Serena e-Power hybrid? Don’t pull down the level lei….totally different class. what is a Serena in front of Santa Fe, 给他提鞋都不配呀。🤣 Edited June 20 by Fellows
Datsun366 Turbocharged June 21 Share June 21 (edited) The SF is ok in Korea, mostly north of Han river. The gradient changes require the specs of sf. Mostly travel between population Centers. in Gangnam and even Myeongdong, it’s the Genesis. the people mover is much larger size, Kia and Hyundai long haul vehicles. the roads are different, gradients are different. the Nissans (one little grey qashqai) are there but in small rare amounts…as like scooters and bikes are in north Seoul. Working class. in Gangnam, it’s all about the Genesis. Ah ma (halmoni) getting out of one in myeongdong was like ho say Liao. 🤗 serena is great for sg, small, easy to park, roads are sufficient. Petrol expensive. the two vehicles are for two different environments. in Korea, to appear humble but to be able to handle the slopes and safety wise, it would be Ssangyong full size truck…the Musso big brother….bro Mustank like Hor. 🤭 sf overkill in sg, but the Genesis, Wah say. oh yes, sf are for humble pro baseball players. All good Koreans leave their Ferraris at home. humble ppl drive Taycans for biz meets. Until they Tiong chia with mclarens on Saturday night at yeoksam hoolala chicken pub. 😙 In sg, the Serena is the utilitarian choice. Petrol is cheaper there in sk. the pork in Japan and Korea taste so much better than sg because different pig. Edited June 21 by Datsun366

Don’t pull down the level lei….totally different class. what is a Serena in front of Santa Fe, 给他提鞋都不配呀。🤣 Went to sgcarmart to pull up a comparison between the new Santa Fe and Serena. Looking at the front of both vehicles, one is tall and thin while the other is short and wide (not comparing women - just vehicles). Looking from the side, the Santa Fee is longer - so the nose is going to stick out a bit more in a parking lot. The Serena (1,060km) will go bit further than the Santa Fe (970km) due to it's better Fuel Consumption (FC) - even though the Santa Fe has a bigger tank. Both are hybrid vehicles, it's just that the Serena (20.4km/L) has a better FC than the Santa Fe (14.5km/L). Both are front wheel drive vehicles and both are box shaped giving large interior space for passengers. Wheelbase on both are about the same. In terms of boot/cargo capacity, with both in 5 seat configuration, reckon the Serena comes out ahead of the Santa Fe. Engine size for both are about the same. Road tax and fuel cost will be higher on the Santa Fe compared to Serena. Torque on the Santa Fe is better than the Serena as well as combined power so the Santa Fe will reach the century sprint faster than the Serena as well as beating it in the 1/4 mile drag race. Do note the Serena is driven by the electric motor so the instantaneous torque from the electric motor is available once the foot is down on the accelerator. Gives the Serena a more electric vehicle feel compared to the Santa Fe. From a practical point of view, not sure paying $70k extra for the Santa Fe is worth it over the Serena. Infernolord 1st Gear June 21 Share June 21 Why don't u compare sf with land rover and Serena with honda stepwagen or Noah? Then u ask if 70k lower than land rover worth ?
Handytouch Clutched June 21 Share June 21 (edited) For me, I am comparing between Santa Fe 2024, Kia Sorento 2024 facelift and Honda Odyssey 2024 facelift (2nd row electric captain seat) Nissan Serena, spouse dont like the boxy feel (tall and slim). Haha. Spouse like X-Trail. Edited June 21 by Handytouch
Alfc 5th Gear June 21 Share June 21 Aesthetic wise, Serena really looks like a van, just like most mpv. Can't run away from the basic van shape no matter how the body panel design. So Sante fe and Suv for that matter give better form factor

Not sure how you going to test drive the odyssey though since it’s only from PI right now, wait for kah motors to bring in probably got less airbags or whatever features plugged out IF they are planning to bring in .. Then u ask if 70k lower than land rover worth ? Land Rover - which one? Anyway, Land Rover is not high enough of a British marquis la! 😁 What you're after is the Bentley Bentayga hybrid SUV - it's only $1.3 million (without CoE). Chump change for the affluent. Unfortunately, it's only got 4 seats. But that's okay as you can sit in the back with your favourite concubine and sip Cristal champagne together in A/C comfort, while being chauffeured around in style. In the mean time, the entourage of servants/wife/kids/mistresses can follow behind in the Santa Fe/Serena/Stepwagen/Noah vehicles. No need to talk about saving $70k la - that's for mere mortals. The annual cost of running the Bentley Bentayga hybrid SUV (including the chauffeur's salary) will be much more. If you've got it, flaunt it is the attitude one should be taking.
