RIP 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I read another version from some chinese/hk website. Apparently the car autolock activated upon impact. No manual override of the locking system like tesla. Literally the girls were burning to death inside the car.

Hear say only.

Making simple things like a door lock complicated and introducing more points of failure....

Pay more to die.

all EVs should have a mechanical door opening level

Zeekr 7X even have a hidden level to shatter window if car went into water.

Those seamless (hidden) door handle immediately omitted any external rescue.

Look slick but no one can open the door externally in emergency.

Radx car door don't has handle. 😁😁😁😁

A few misconceptions and myths about this incident.

1. Doors cannot be opened from the inside

All 4 doors of the SU7 are equipped with emergency mechanical door release handles (circled in red). In this incident, its probably the occupants are unfamiliar with the car and did not know such a handle exists, and they are trying in vain to open the doors with the electric button (orange). Or they are already unconscious after the impact.

2. LFP battery sure won't catch fire after accident. Much safer compared to NMC

This variant which catch fire after the accident is verified to be a base model SU7 which uses LFP battery. So battery safety is always about the overall design and fail safes of the entire battery pack, never just the battery chemistry alone. So stop the bulls**t that BYD and Tesla LFP battery sure won't catch fire.

So does the door release handle run on electricity power or purely mechanical?

Otherwise it would defeat the purpose once the power get cut off due to deployment of airbags.

Google...Tesla hidden door release handle mostly hidden. At least not prominent to the passenger or driver.

My opinion only.

The fail safe manual door release below near to the door bins is mechanical. Only the usual button at the top is electrical by design.

The cover for the mechanical release of Tesla is black.  It is not prominent.

Can always buy from TB an upgraded version which includes both cover and release latch.

In addition, TB mod is either yellow or orange.

You're right about the exterior door handles being electric only.

It looks like those conventional lift-up door handle but actually it isn't. There is only a button which you have to press underneath the door handles to open the doors. Something like the button you press to open your boot.

I mentioned before, after a high speed impact. with smoke flooding the cabin and panic in the air. Who will remember the emergency latch release?

Maybe 1 out of 5 at best.

If based on the diagram, at least xiaomi made it pretty visible.
