Just bought a new car and exploring the various options out there. Many swear by the cheap taobao ones. For me, cheap equate to short life span etc. Some automated holders take a life of their own and open on their own dropping the phone on my dash causing dents. Looked at brands like Spigen and it looked damn good. So what are u using? Why is it good or bad?

I am using Quad Lock, Vent Mount.  There are 3 options: suction windscreen/dash mount, vent mount and adhesive console mount.

As some have mentioned earlier, the Vent Mount may block the air ventilation, so it all depends on what you want.  My personal priority to have the phone constantly charged whilst driving with minimal clutter, so chose the Vent Mount option.  I chose also the MAG wireless charging head option for ease of mount/dismount of phone from holder.

The biggest minus point for using this brand is you have to also use their casing.  Their phone case is standard design, boring and nothing extraordinary, but has pretty good drop protection.  And it can also be used on their bicycle/motorcycle mounts as well.  You can be very certain your phone will be secure and not be dislodged from the holder at any point in time (except from a crash maybe?).

Quad Lock has an annual sale every Black Friday and the only time of the year where they will give 30% discounts storewide.

Any other drivers here using a similar type to Quad Lock type of car kits that are secure but more wallet-friendly?

Hello People,

can I ask those who have a KIA NIRO HYBRID or KIA cars with similar dashboard, where and how do you mount your phone onto Magsafe phone holder/charger centrally around the dashboard so as to avoid over heating(making use of cool air from aircon vents), as opposed to the usual way of mounting near to A pillar?

have seen those holders with air con vent clips but are they secure when car is moving.  Also saw some with design for clipping onto or suction to rear of dashboard. Does phoen stay cool?

I use this: https://www.amazon.sg/UGREEN-Magnetic-Universal-Adjustable-Compatible/dp/B07V4RYGV4?th=1

It got a metal hook to securely hold on to your aircon vane.... phone always cold thanks to active aircon cooling.

I have tried majority of the phone holder type mainly the suction type on windscreen, air vent and another air vent but with an 'extension' rod to supposedly not block the wind from the air con.

I still think that the air vent type is the most convenient coz it doesn't block my windscreen view and it is an arm length if I need to quick reply to a message or change songs in Spotify. However, it will still block the wind in the aircon vent which may result in fogging on my driver seat side that kinda blocks my side mirror view. It is a big trade off with convenience.

The  suction type on windscreen is OK but I feel that it looks like those taxi uncle cars and it kinda blocks my view when driving but good thing is that you can see the full view of your phone especially if you are using Waze as navigation or speedometer.

I'm sticking to the suction type at the moment to alleviate my issues with fogging but I'm still looking for other ways. I want my view to be completely clear and to better reach my phone for quick typing even when driving.
