Spare tire

when your 4 main tires are due for change, what do you do with your spare tire?

Keep as it is (Do nothing)? Will the spare tires quality degrad as the years passes?

My Brother scrapped his 10 Years old Kia,Spare Tyre is New...

Alot of Cars came with Spacesaver Donut,it cannot be use as normal Tyre.

Not sure about degradation...only know it expands all round overtime if not careful...😁

IMHO.
For peace of mind,  if the size is common, change every 5 years based on tire date code.

depend on the size and type of your spare tyre,

if its those very small , look like motor cycle tyres type. just ensure the pressure is alway enough, those type normally pump to 60 psi, go servicing ask WS pump for u.

if your spare is a real spare that is exactly the same as your 4 tyres, ( like the altis) , u can alway rotate the 5 so that u wont feel 1 tyre wasted.

Anw, those small , temporary tyres , u dun need worry about degrad, even renew coe more then 10 years still use, ( u want change also no way to change) .

I have not kept any car for more than 4.5 years, so I never thought about the spare tyre.

if you plan to keep your car for the full 10 years, then change the spare tyre at the 5 year mark.

My current car has no spare tyre but @RadX always say my car in workshop so my main tyres are seldom used too 🤣

Mine is altis. Any recommendation on how to rotate the 5?

Eg: fix the spare to front or back wheel?

Can always change to run flat tyre. Spare is redundant imo.

 In the past when my ride did came with spare tyre I would change out all 5 of them at one go.  

Spare tyre thread might be in good but yrs of not using might harden the rubber.

Just my silly perception back then. ignore me. Nowaday my ride don't has a spare tyre.

IMHO.
If full size, 5 tyres rotation is possible.  However,  the 5th tyre may not be the same rim design.

most car dun give same rim design even if tyres is same size.

altis is the rare 1 that give a same rim same tyre. (the recent model i think )

Indeed is rare.  My older Altis is the same size but steel rim. 🤣
Got spare tyre should be happy even donut type. 🤣

last time my W204 had full size spare tire, same wheel as the rest of the four

I included it in tire rotation following the pattern below when the car was new

first tire change onwards, I kept the worn 5th wheel in the boot as spare wheel, back to four tire rotation

I removed my spare tire a few years ago. I was still going back to AD for servicing at that time and the checklist always gets a tick for spare tire check. But there was no more spare tire.
