If there was a war, does the president stay in office during a war election?

Based on the precedents below,

In 1864, during the peak of the U.S. Civil War, President Lincoln ran against Democratic candidate (and former Union general) George McClellan. Initially, Lincoln stood a chance of losing his re-election, but a combination of events during the spring and summer of that year, and the first widespread use of mail-in ballots allowing troops in the field to cast their votes, led to an easy Lincoln victory.

While World War I began in Europe in August 1914, the U.S. involvement in that war did not begin until April 1917. President Wilson served his first term from 1913–1917, and he ran for, and won, re-election in November 1916. During his re-election campaign, one of Wilson’s primary campaign promises was “He Kept Us Out of War.” Wilson took office on March 4, 1917, and he asked Congress for a declaration of war against Germany on April 2, 1917. In other words, Wilson “Kept Us Out of War” for about four weeks.

In 1944, while World War II was raging and the U.S. was fighting wars in both Europe and the Pacific, President Franklin Roosevelt ran for a fourth term in office, and won in a landslide. His fourth term, however, was very brief: He began his fourth term on January 20, 1945, and he died in office on April 12, 1945, less than three months later.

Norm... Trump is preparing to forcibly take over Greenland, what he can't do? Afghanistan war, took US 20+ yrs n billions $$. War with Yemen and Iran... print more US$ and dig more graves for American soldiers.

The realist has always say Trump is the president who doesn't start or has any war during his term.  Shall wait and see.

When I said USA had the suicide squad leading their various departments(ministry), this guy is an example. They have a Irish Koh, heading the health department. Robert Kennedy jr is a strong anti vaxxer, and promotes alternative treatments.
