The democratic primaries could have run actually. It's just that Obama/Clintons/Pelosi backed KH so it became moot.

Tulsi Gabbard would have been a smart female choice in 2020 to appeal to those who normally vote MAGA. Service Veteran white female Got higher support than KH in the primaries. 
She left the party, became an independent and backed Trump and Republican
