The low pressure fuel pump should be the in-tank unit.

The impeller is attached to the motor shaft. So if replacing it it will be the entire fuel pump assembly.

This is an example to show you where typically the impeller is located. It is all similar.

For your Fit I think it is not difficult to Google for photos. The pump diagram should be smth like this. Impeller cant be seen as the unit is likely sealed, it has to be, no air should go into it.

Why 3 nozzle, my guess is inlet, outlet and overflow return.

Location wise it is in the center console just behind the auto gear shift.

You can BYO fuel pump assembly by searching for local Honda stockist, they will ask you for your e-logcard to look at the engine/chassis number to confirm the make year model etc to make sure this is the correct part for your car. Then bring the part to your regular workshop and ask them to replace it. No need to say so much to them.

Looks like the commonly replaced fuel pump. My PI says every 100k must replace.

If not defective, not sure if don't replace will have any impact.

My friend use his Fit drive grab. Now 290k. Change this pump at 100k n 200k. He wonders if his already replaced OEM part is defective as the original one mentioned in the recall.

Should he change? The PI is reputable and may call him back for replacement.

Now I other than siam-ing far far away from king kong trucks and Malaysian-registered vehicles, now I need to siam Hondas from 2018 onwards, just in case they suddenly stall without warning.

But come to think of it, maybe siam also no use. When engines stall, brakes and sometimes steering may be lost. I stop at traffic light may also kena bang from behind by a 2018 onwards Honda that has lost brakes due to engine stalling due to fuel pump failure.

Recalls are usually safety issues, it is best not to ignore.  Low risk may not mean no risks.

@itsmeagainhk

As an alternative, you may want to call Kah Motor and see how they could help you, you will have to prepare to pay for the service if they are willing to do it for you.

For toyota , Borneo do accept PI in some ways, not sure how it works.

Yes and no. From the description, it is the impeller that will fail. At most no more pressure. No different to a mechanically failing fuel pump.

Maybe engine "die" suddenly on the expressway, becoming a road hazard 🤣

(edited)

Thank you everyone for your opinions.

I have decided to get it changed but only with the rectified pump.

Checking in with ws as if they just change the pump, it might not solve the issue. But then again, also very difficult to tell the differences between part numbers.

@Beregond hi, on location of fuel pump - FYI the fuel tank is actually below front passenger seats in the Jazz, not rear like most other cars. Did a quick Google search on Jazz and the fuel pump should be underneath centre console.

@Wildfaye29 wow, PI very "conservative" 😛. I service at KM, now approx 180k mileage but never hear anything about fuel pump.

Ya i drove cars for >30years and never heard fuel pump needs to be periodically changed.

Can find out how your annual mileage?

The fuel filter needs periodic replacement every 40km-80km (jap car).

Can check the maintenance manual.

40k is excessive. Those who tell you are bulls**tting! Btw I DIY replaced fuel filter at 100k before. So I know what I see.

mine also affected

I do not want to contact PI bcos I dont think they would do anything after 3 years

contacted the Importer and requested to be included for their recall program, which will be at my own cost.  they sounded helpful

they dont have parts or time table yet.  they estimated part replacement cost SGD 80.  Labour ??

@oceanicmanta Parts replacement for $80!

That's a steal if so. OEM Fuel pump from Thian Seng already 190 and original one is approx 400 plus. However, even thian seng cannot confirm if the original one that they can bring in is the improved version or just another original pump without the issue rectified.

Both are excluding labour cost which i reckon may range from $150-$250. Anyway, good that your importer can assist with it. Mine totally wash their hands off.
