You got the S or Elite trim? Good deal at expo?

@Fellows I got the elite trim.

hard to say if it’s good deal or not when coe is so high. Looked at reused ones but even older gen were selling for above 100k for 7-8years left.
I have an old vw beetle with less than 8 months left, and I’m afraid it’ll break down soon.
I was comparing this with the KIA NIRO and both were very similar price. Felt that with the top trim features alone - Kona offered better value. I know that NIRO gets better fuel mileage than KONA but KONA interior and exterior looked better.
Spending so much money , might as well get something that you like how it looks.

How much is the elite trim?
I went to car at expo too, went over to look at the Kona. Open the door and sit, look at the tons buttons at the center console, immediately close and walk to KIA to order the Niro Hybrid SX trim. The only thing I dislike about the Niro even at SX trim still only 16” tyres.

Basically Kona and Niro both are sharing parts. The same 6 speed dry clutch DCT with 1.6L smart stream engine with the exact same lithium ion battery too. 129hp with 265nm torque. 10 years engine warranty, 10 years lithium battery warranty and 5 years unlimited mileage warranty. Same same but different.

Placed order on 13th April then C&C bid the 17th April bidding of CAT A COE, collecting my NIRO SX within the first two weeks of May.

Even new comfort taxi and PHV both using latest Kona and Niro, so I am not so worry about servicing, maintenance and spare parts.

Just realise that our cars will be fitted with ugly new ERP 2.0 3 parts OBU designed from the 1980s which LTA fail to integrate into 1 piece as a dead on arrival failed project in year 2024.

From its amazing old school design and user requirements point of view from 1 May this ugly shit will be inside new cars when we already had the futuristic large digital speedometer and infotainment display. 🤦🏻‍♂️

The Kona we test drove was fitted with this EPR2.0.

i took a photo when my wife was test driving it. It’s distracting for sure.
I hope we have option to opt out of the screen.

You can judge for yourself 🥲

You can choose not to install this screen. But if you do not install this screen, then you cannot deactivated the cashcard using your phone without having to manually bend over to take out the cashcard. Think there are prons and cons of this screen.

Anyway, how's the test drive of this Kona?

@13177 okay thanks I’m not really sure if I follow about the ERP I guess will figure it out later.

Driving wise , I preferred the Niro actually , felt more feedback compared the Kona. Kona sits taller I think.
my wife likes the Kona design so just went with it. I’m not that fussy about cars driving since I drive like a grandpa. I used to drive a wrx then Prius and now current car my wife drives a beetle. Now with a kid, just need a safe and spacious car.

You can choose not to install the screen or pay to remove it.

Seems like many people like Niro more. You test drive the EV or Hybrid version?

You drove a WRX before and yet you said you drive like grandpa? 😂

Woah, so close to the side airbags, if they deploy will this display fly out?

Did you see where is the cash card reader placement?

All of us who ordered in Jan collected the car. You may wish to check with your SE and pressure them abit so that you can collect your car soon. 3 days to the end of May anyway.

Test drove last weekend.

Next batch July/Aug

IU2.0 - the cashcard reader is on passenger side. I can lean slightly to the left and can reach it easily

The screen.. I asked about the Airbags.. was told they have been "promised" "Will not affect the airbag or fly off"
