Engine cowling latches not properly locked or engaged. As aircraft gained speed during takeoff, they came loose and torn off by the airflow. No scare, just an aerodynamic cover, not structural. Jamesc Hypersonic April 9, 2024 Share April 9, 2024 (edited) Human problems not engineering problems. Forgot to bolt the doors. Forgot to tighten the engine covers. bsswan 6th Gear May 7, 2024 Share May 7, 2024 New news.... Quote Federal air safety regulators have opened a fresh investigation into the Boeing 787 Dreamliner - after the firm said several employees had committed "misconduct" by falsely claiming tests had been completed. The probe will look into whether Boeing completed inspections to confirm adequate bonding and grounding where the wings of certain 787 Dreamliner planes join the fuselage, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said. Expand Yeah, please investigate. It's not like joining the wings to the fuselage is IMPORTANT!!!!! 🤬
Jamesc Hypersonic May 8, 2024 Share May 8, 2024 I feel so assured I have absolutely no hesitation booking MIL on a Boeing plane. "Safety is our highest priority." This phrase was part of an official statement from Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg on the crashes of two Boeing 737 Max 8 planes in less than six months and the subsequent grounding of all 737 Max planes by U.S. president Donald Trump as well as about 30 other nations. bsswan 6th Gear June 29, 2024 Share June 29, 2024 We need to start distinguishing between aircraft manufacturer, and the airline doing maintenance. Much of the issues in the US, for example, come from sh!tty and cheap maintenance rather than Boeing, more so if we consider engine failure like this. Boeing scares me now than before, but we need to lay blame fairly as well.
