That move itself is already unpopular and they spend a lot of time trying to convince the public how it was necessary so that we can get minority representation for the presidency. Without it, no minority representation. The people are already pissed off not getting a chance to vote. The most stupidest thing is the NEXT election, they put up Tharman against Chinese candidates and he won convincingly. WHY??? It just showed how frivolous the constitution change was and how unnecessary it was. 2) The gst increase... Even an idiot knows increasing the GST when huge inflation is coming will not be popular. The PAP could have postponed it but they did not. They insisted the increase was needed, we need the money right now, blah blah blah. Then they went to post a budget surplus larger than what the increased revenue coming from the GST hike. Why did they post a surplus??? common, the budget is so complicated, surely they can find a way to spend or put the money into a fund such that the budget does not have a big surplus.
