Elon Musk has been calling Ma Yun of Alibaba and many US appointees duds and idiots.

Though they are successful, in their own right, they are not of genius level where the logic train is so clear to Elon, and it is jarring when these ‘successful’ appointees fails to grasp, or acts against it

Hence, I am asking if you have a good suggestion to bring capable people to serve in the government for the good of SG.

@Wind30 I was in the same BMT platoon as LW, scholar company. Half the platoon was 4As 2S.

i had A, B, C and 1S, ranked 3rd last in the platoon. Was considered for PSC, but didn’t take up because needed to change my degree.

So his results was above average.

my definition of average could be different from yours but surely you can tell the difference in the schools and university attended vs many others on voodooman minister list. Those other degrees he got much later in his life don’t count as admission for those courses are based on other stuff. 

Just checked. Mah Bow Tan was awarded both the President’s Scholarship and the Colombo Plan Scholarship.

Anyway, there is a statistical bias here, LKY is a believer in eugenics and would have hired only scholars and some did f**ked it up for the people.

In your view, is his choice of university considered a poor one? Was it also because his grades are below average according to some? As he didn't get into a prestigious uni like Harvard?

To what I understand, he already had an offer for law so his grades should be decent.. perhaps your view on this can offer a closure..

MBT went university of New South Wales... I rank that same as university of Wisconsin...

Like I said, not all scholars have strong academics. The gov do try to include some who are average in academics. There are plenty of scholars that went Harvard, Princeton, etc. 

The discussion here is not about scholars but academics. They are coorelated but not all scholars are strong in academics.

You are making wild assumptions. Just now you said his results were average, I actually thought you know his results. So now these are your own guesses? 

? I would not call it wild assumptions. Most people here kind of agree LW academics is "average" esp if you view it among his peers in the Singapore government. Some here view it as an advantage. you are the only one trying to argue he is actually very good in academics.

If he is good, why did he not choose to go to a more prestigious university? Is university of Wisconsin closer to his home than Harvard/stanford/etc?

Lawrence Wong not being the PM? LKY is a strong believer in academics and he is was 2nd in RI or something, wife was first? It is not by accident most of the early Singapore government ministers are similar people like LKY.

That is one of my worries. I think all of us have worked long enough to know the team usually contain mostly the same kind of people as the leader...

I think Lawrence Wong as PM, you end up with more ministers like Lawrence Wong...
