I was chatting with a friend last week about EV

our ICE car, pump full tank, park for a month still got full tank (maybe a few % petrol evaporated, negligible)

what about EV?

if I charge it full, after parked for a month still full?

what about old EV? will the aged battery and electronics able to hold the charge when not in use?

I asked because I have a few torch lights using lithium ion battery, some went flat after a few months sitting in the drawer

this is like old ICE leaking petrol 😁

If you drive EV, and go on a 1 month overseas trip, best is don't charge full and leave it parked. Keeping it at 30-50% charge will be better for the battery in the long run, less battery degradation.

I haven't had the luxury of a 1 month break ever since I started working a couple decades ago. But for a recent 2 week trip, my high voltage battery charge level went down just 2%, from 45% to 43% iirc. So it's really not so bad.

thanks, good to know that

2% in 2 weeks is negligible 👍

That’s about 1 - 1.5kw or 1 large power bank.

maybe my bazi (chinese zodiac) got fire element

original fuel line quick disconnectors were plastic (thank you BMW), it snapped like biscuit and spray petrol on to the hot engine while riding

I changed them to the metal version

why I continue to use worm clamps. I did some reading up on hose clamps when I read about Forester turbo intercooler clamps coming off. Then went to read about breeze clamps and the different type of  clamps.

If you have the budget for either German EVs or Chinese EVs, which one will you go for? However at present, Germany is in crisis, things are also not looking good for their automotive industry so isit still safe to buy anot ah?🤣

The gloves box and air vent need to use the touch screen to control is most stupid thing. Not practical at all.

Yeah. It's like having electric servos in a machine using joystick to scratch your nose.

Previously German economy rely on sales of heavy machinery and expensive cars.

Now, China is making large pressing machine and EV.

China strategy is that they are prepared to sell at a loss to get rid of their rivals🤣
