My car app or charging station app will update me of the charging status which can be check. As a EV owner, just plan the routine and there is no waste of time. So I actually save some time to drive to petrol station. For some mall, charging lot is closer to lift or escalator. Still need to visit petrol station to pump tyres. I wonder if Esso, Caltex etc will charge non-petrol cars a fee to pump tyres in the future. To make up for loss of revenue from fuel.

So if you do a like for like with an EV round corners, it should actually corner better and is much less prone to rolling over. Again, you must compare equivalent makes to make it a better comparison. i dont agree. Weight is the main killer for cornering. Modern tech and mask this weakness by electronic lsd. A heavy car can maybe go fast in the first 3 laps of a track. by 5th round, the tyres will no longer grip and disk will be overheated. one cant overcome physics. A stiff and light chassis with good suspension tuning is what made cars good in corners.

A stiff and light chassis with good suspension tuning is what made cars good in corners. I said that before during the discussion on GTR, and a lot of ppl disagree with me. Most of EV weight is below passenger cockpit. It has a lower CG than ICE car. As most of the braking is done via regen, disc overheating is a non-issue. For track, overheating of tyre, battery and motor is the bigger issue. So far, only Taycan can do multiple lap without overheating.

A stiff and light chassis with good suspension tuning is what made cars good in corners. A BMW M5 weights 2.4 tons, more than most EV, but it handles pretty well. The fast acceleration may help it to change direction faster and counter the heavier weight. A bit like EV? With lower CG, it should also have less body roll and EV, by default, have better weight distribution. It is a question. I am no expert but have driven quite a few EV (up to a week max) and the handling and cornering are not too shabby. EV chassis is stiff too, right? I am no expert but have driven quite a few EV (up to a week max) and the handling and cornering are not too shabby. EV chassis is stiff too, right? Weight is absolute. So a heavier car will go into a corner with a higher centrifugal force compare to a lighter car at the same speed. Modern m5 is heavy, so a lot of tech like diff, power and torque distribution is used to pull the car around the corner. While it works, it puts a lot of stress on the tyres. So tyres tend to heat up a lot faster and looses grip. No ppl want to go to a track with a heavy car. Problem with light cars is that they are more unstable at high speed straights. Thus we got all the wings and canards to press the car down. Ev or not is the same. It may be hard to tell the difference in daily driving.

But yeah. Maybe not so much on ev. But who goes to the track with a Tesla? Personally, with the difference between the weight of engine and battery, I think difference in cg is null. While cg will affect the balance during corner, it can be minimize with additional struts and engine mount. But there is no way to reduce the centrifugal force exerted by the weight of the car. Gtr fans are delusional. Lol. Their tyres are wider than a typical sports car so that helps in heat dispersion. Also, the Attesa system is the one helping the car turn. Same with Evo's ayc. Once the tyres overheat, ayc can't do wonders again. 1

Battledome64 3rd Gear Saturday at 03:06 AM Share Saturday at 03:06 AM (edited) @inlinesix when usage based pricing implemented 30 mins will be an expensive wait through all the traffic lights. anyone know if they considered long traffic lights? Meaning 4-5 mins wait in poorly planned traffic lights should not lead to congestion charges essentially we shouldn’t be paying for congestion caused on poorly designed roads.
