One, I know you appreciate already EV come, typically, with lower rolling-road-resistance rubber to maximize theoretical range but I've said before, my tyre guy at the office is typically changing EV tyres at just 8-months, 6-8k kms. EV have enormous acceleration and torque, but I can bet tyres are NEVER in the window for spirited driving as they're nerfed from 10min down the road. I will await SSB technology, check charging tech and times before re-thinking EV, but at the moment I don't like charging times or the amount of heavy metals used. They could do with toning down power/torque to sensible levels to maximize battery and tyre health. Harry's Garage YT tested a new electric Macan a few weeks back, totally fierce, and stupid. Even with 4WD I think it will kill faster than their famed widow-maker. Interesting point about changing tires faster. I don't see there's any difference in the wear rate on my EV vs the previous ICE despite the EV having a heavier curb weight. Perhaps I'm a guniang EV driver 😂 Anyway, probably what's worth a check are the appropriate tire pressures. Typically the recommended pressures on an EV are higher. More than 40 psi or 280kpa is common. Many who came from an ICE overlook this and they just continue with their usual ICE 30-35 psi routine and it leads to abnormal wear on their EV. ↡ Advertisement

I think we have discussion tyre wear some months ago. Rather than acceleration, it could also be regen brake that cause the wear.

It takes balls and skill to be able to go very fast round bends." So far no one has come out to say that their BYD Seal/3 or Tesla is great round corners. Physics says that heavy cars (EV battery is very heavy) with high inertia will not be nimble. Is there a driver's car EV at real world price ($110k COE withstanding) that can carry 4 in comfort on the market now? SU7? You don't get 6:46 around the ring with bad handling. 001? A lot of reviewers have actually rated the m3p handling as decent. On 12/13/2024 at 11:22 AM, RadX said: Taking the i4 and the Byd seal (not 3.8) round SBV is a whole different feel altogether. With the i4, like any other BMW gripping the tarmac but Byd u can feel the handling, or lack of, grossly inadequate. That with the retarded 0.5s lag in the throttle response. BYD is comparatively cheap and unrefined in EV world... Not that any of this matters because when are you tackling twisty roads or going over 120km/h in SG

Between the 2, one is more comfortable whereas the other is more responsive. It ultimately depends on what the driver values more. If I need to ferry others, it'll be Seal. If I don't, it'll be model 3.

After the race they were talking about his next career step and whom he might replace in a car next year etc. "He's proven the last few weeks he's a very fast driver", said one commentator. I had the same response..... quick, yes, but he also needs to prove he can go round corners because that's the second race in a row he'd caused several hundred thousand dollars of damage. Point is, a lot of EV now are too powerful for the muppet behind the wheel. Heck, the muppets already cannot control normal ICE family cars now. Kia just brought out something for next year like a new EV6 with nearly 650hp. Absurd, and I'm a sports car guy.
