Turf City closes 31 Dec 2023

Huge under-utilized land in prime area.

It was always destined to be re-developed in a big way.

Just surprised it took so long.

When I was a student in that area, Turf Club was still alive and racing there. We even had school cross country run before inside Turf Club.

Now even Turf Club and horse racing is dead 6 feet under

i went to the back where the antique shops are, still no signs of shifting out. 

Maybe many shops and car dealers really wait until 31 Dec then move out. Think i should go there to see look see look last time somewhere this week. 😂

New development in turf city should be just nice opened liao when the cross island line is ready by then. If not the station would be 'wasted'.

They should have kept the sports facilities. Nowhere else in SG got that kind of capacity to cater to such a big variety of sports.

The rest like the mall all that, can redevelop. There was nothing much there anyway.

with MRT going to Turf City, next time can do a big big integrated one like Heartbeat @ Bedok; table tennis, tennis, archery, gym, swimming pool etc.

Getting lesser and lesser big space of sports facilities here. The only sports facilities that we have is those Activesg stadium.

But those are indoor. Turf City sports are mostly outdoor (football, rugby etc)

For other sports is easy. Like tennis. Basketball. Even archery range and paintball.

But soccer is a big headache.  Need alot of space.

Don't think they will build sports facilities on turf city land right? Wasted le. Likely they will build private commercial/residential.
