SG is famous of creating artificial things; you see like almost all the places of interest is man made. The so called greens and trees in gardens by the bay is 'fake'.

They are building the cross island line on the turf city site, think they need to vacant the whole site for the construction work.

conservation is a case of ai mai only. look at tg pagar railway station, also conserved even though got cantonment mrt construction.
