@Rickster seriously yes. Toyota design improved a lot over the past 5 years.

Yes, Toyota have managed to shake off the uninspiring uncle look for most of their volume sellers here like the latest versions of altis, camry, CHR, prius etc

Design dept improved definitely improved

But unfortunately powertrain and NVH still lags behind. The japs shld juz ditch the noisy n irritating CVT, improve sound insulation and spend a bit more effort to 'engineer' the exhaust instead of the hollow sound

I think the old Toyotas were pretty noisy but the recent offerings, from the Prius hybrid to the Camry, harrier, vellfire hybrids have done much to change that perception. Some models have started using acoustic windshields.

But that said, it's expected that they don't focus much on the basic models that are meant to compete at the lower price points as most of the competition there are also not that focused on nvh and expect just a very basic driving experience.

Why would they care about changing cvt?

When a Toyota and Honda cvt/atkinson hybrid can do almost 50-52mpg in real world? And they are country miles ahead of other hybrid systems.

Hybrid power trains will probably take over the portion of commuter vehicles that are not going to be electric in the states and rest of the world. Thats Toyota and Honda's (actually almost the whole Japanese car industry) aim while they wait for EV construction costs to come down (mainly battery costs).

Torque convertor gearboxes are mostly going to dinosaurland when Europe stops doing ICE in 10 years. And only be featured in basic cars sold to rest of world ex Europe and states.

The European brands will be all electric by early 2030s.

And you can see that EVs are marketed as luxury or high tech in Asia. People will still buy audis and mercs. But they will all be EVs.

2.8L diesel has 500nm.

LC76 uses the same engine.

No matter how high COE is

people will just pay!

Grudgingly and complaining like hell

but still pay!

:D

As long as lots of money going to gov

how is that a problem?

Your own problem is not everyone's problem

and its not the gov problem!

See from everybody's point of view.

Only time they won’t pay when they start to lose their jobs. 🤣

 No 2.8L.

only 2.4L diesel or 2.0/2.7 petrol.

This I will attribute 90% to Akio Toyoda's plan back then of starting the Gazoo Racing division, to make Toyotas fun again.

LC7x series is not Hilux lah. It is a dinosaur platform for Aussie and Africa.

Previously only come with 4.5l v8 diesel manual or 2.8l IL6 diesel manual.

Few months ago release facelift with 2.8l diesel auto option (taken from Hilux)

How cheap is it?

Am stoked for the 2.0/2.7 petrol (diesel cfm will get CVES) if price is less than 40k w/o COE

When COE was low PI sold single cab regular Hilux for 80k so for this highly compromised Hilux it must be cheaper right?

Euro5 only. Thus not allowed in SG.
