This seems very high spec with memory seats and seems faster than the previous Camry in the 0-100. The speed is limited to 180 likely due to mij too.

Why is Toyota AD limiting all this info? No pictures or news on the net or their website? Especially on the interior as the pictures overseas are only on the LHD and not RHD ones.

Those 2 cars are what I am looking forward to seeing. The Seal DMi is a direct rival to Camry, Accord and Passat category and it was better than its rivals in everyway.

List price is $243,000.  COE guaranteed.  Very limited quantity for delivery in Jul/Aug/Sep 2024.

Estimated OMV is $42K.  Features are very similar to the Lexus ES250, i.e. a Lexus ES250 in disguise!

No test drive or photography allowed for now.

Only 1 configuration available.  Import from Japan.

is it launched already? can view car in the showroom?

Yes, you can view the car, which is put in a separate area with the curtain drawn, in the showroom.

Why so secretive? When is the official launch date? Don’t they want sale?

@Fellows

This is a soft launch.  Borneo Motors have not decided on the official launch date as yet.

I guess if the demand is poor during the soft launch, Borneo Motors might not want to commit to a volume import from Japan which they cannot sell later.

Currently the higher OMV cost (compared to the previous 2021 model: Elegance and Standard configurations) and lower VES rebate ($10K less) which kicked in this year, translate to a higher sale price for the new Camry.  This is off-putting for existing Camry drivers looking to replace their soon-to-expire cars.

The only way to reduce the OMV cost, and thus the final sale price, is to remove some nice-to-have but non-essential features, to make more it palatable to existing Camry drivers and also attract new Camry customers who find the styling of the new Camry to their liking.  Last but not the least, seasoned drivers know the well-established reliability of the Toyota Brand.

If the parallel importers also jump into the market for the new Camry, you can imagine the outcome ..............
