I know a couple of us are using, or have been, this iChange.

The last few weeks I've been getting some serious problems, like cannot use the physical at all anywhere, even in Singapore. I was in JB last week with MYR in the account and couldn't tap anywhere. This excuse and that, but was supposed to be fixed hours after I got back.

Topped up SGD a couple of days ago and today cannot even tap a $2 purchase.

Nice how I can add money, but not use it 🤬 and I need it to work for my JP trip in a couple of weeks.

Anybody?

Now using utrip, less issues n headaches. (xchg rate cannot fight w ichange thou)

Hmmm, should not be like that, right? I used in Thailand a few months ago and all was well, just in the last few weeks I've not been able to use any wallet.

I've added to my Google Wallet, so I try in a few hours on the bus.

This morning I tapped, went straight to "Declined" and iChange WA came back a couple hours later saying "Account fine, can use" and I'm sitting with a card that didn't work.

I have JPY in the wallet, bought around 116 to use in a couple of weeks. Without a working card, is like last week in JB, money in the wallet that's still there. I had to use my SG card instead 🥹

Can try utrip (can link to gpay, apple ewallet), I've been using since i stop using ichg, less issue & headache but xchg rate not as gd as ichg n oni hav limited foreign $ ewallet (10).

There's also revulot, wise & trust u can consider, can chk w other bros since i dun use them.

Application for these cards (utrip) quite fast de. iirc e virtual card almost instant (or nxt day), can link to ewallets to use.

I had YouTrip many years ago. Fell out with it after trouble topping up in Switzerland and cut shortly after getting back.

I got my son a junior Revolut shortly afterwards for his independence, training, and starting secondary seeing then it had multi-currency but didn't use my own card because I have a multi-currency bank account that (timely) introduced a debit card, and we were not travelling through COVID. Additionally, I already have/had most of the major currencies in my bank, so it was only earlier this year for topping up TnG and a trip to TH that I got iChange due to good FX. Now have issues, yes, no TnG top-up a month or so after taking the card, and now MYR/JPY and a small amount of THB in my wallet.

With SGD starting to drop, I can convert MYR/THB later back to SGD and pay-out without losing much or anything, but I converted the JPY at good rates - foreign currency cannot be exported out locally.

Anyway, will be on the bus shortly and try again, the physical card from google wallet. I just don't like the embarrassment of my card being declined in front of the queue and whole bus 🥺

It could be I go back to Revolut, they just had a serious IPO a few weeks back. Trust is an option with SC/FP but this is based on daily FX rate without multi-currency wallet - pros and cons.

I am a little more relaxed again, card worked on/off the bus and in/out of MRT so iChange's excuse that "certain machines or systems may decline international or travel cards" gets me thinking about how reliable cards are to use in general.

I've never really had any card declined, except for my own mistakes, so it appears iChange still have a route to asolve themselves of fault.

Last week I checked SGD:JPY

iChange               110.4177
XE.net                  109.643 (mid-Market rate)
Wise                     109.66
UOB Mighty-FX   109.65
HSBC Everyday   108.635

Today XE.net is 108.5, so things have moved on, but the Mighty-FX surprised me a bit, as a UOB account holder. The different is YouTrip/iChange can play currencies whereby sometimes it works, sometime not. Later can sell FX if profitable..... I converted my leftover THB for +2.6% 🤭
