All the messages they've been sending out (COE, ARF, ERP, 'car-lite', car free zones) point towards that goal.

What they actually mean is, cannot afford please don't buy and don't complain, it's not for you. We've got an extensive and comprehensive public transport system. Those who can afford, please proceed, battle royale style.

I have been praying for coe to hit $200k

But honestly, many people can afford it. But how many will think not worth to give the money to G just like that.

My bosses also will think this is peanuts. But they will only consider if they really need it. Same for me, I am not going to put any money in right now, when it comes to the time my ride expires. Then I will go think of it if I want to pay it or not.

Yes many people can, but many more cant.
Even for those who can, does it make sense?
so the rich poor gap will be pulled further apart not just in real income numbers but even in real life conveniences even in things as simple as a set of wheels.

GOOD LUCK SINGAPORE GOOD LUCK

But this is life lah. When I first came out. I got my first Liteace Van, open the door too hard the door can drop out one 🤣. Not kidding, it was a 14 years old van.

Many of my colleagues were just so good in their life, they were enjoying while I used the van for doing my part time to make more money. Then you surpass them one by one. 3 years down the road. I become the Engineering lead with my original team leader under my group. he made a decision to resign and go for further studies. Many years later we still talk about it. It was nice for this friend to say. We look at others, never look and say other are good. Look and say you are much fortunate already and continue to work hard and strive.

It is part of life right? Don't blame others if you don't work hard enough as I always share with my elder Brother. We cannot consider rich but we succeeded because of our hard work even with poor parents. And we are proud our mother managed to send us to school.

I can only say, if SG does not move forward fast. Too bad. I have seen SG being catch up over the years.  Not Good Luck, must Goot Lat.

It isnt can or cannot afford. Thanks to monthly installment and dp bypass trick most ppl in Singapore can afford.

Question is opportunity cost. What else I can do with that money instead of give gahmen excuse to keep not fixing the problem

Someone mentioned that before GE 2011 and after GE 2011 there were differences in the way we were handled. Haha, you know what I mean??

Oh dont get me wrong, i share your sentiments totally.

of course it is Life.   I would be born a Saudi Prince otherwise.
i am not worried at all about my ability to buy a car in Singapore. Whether $150k or $250k COE

but my point is the fact that they allowed an outdated system to continue.

Thereby everyone gets f**ked, rightfully or wrongfully.

So much for world class , top class.

What’s it got to do with voting. You wait long long that a new government will abolish coe.

Agree, we should avoid making  COE an emotional vote  discussion, while there might be room for COE system to be fined tune, COE  is a necessary evil. just look at the current traffic condition in the morning, there is no room for more quota for sure.  Expanding road has it price to the country as well.  If gov income does not come from COE, it will come from.somewhere else instead , we just have to pay more for other things.

Opposition may not necessrily have a good solution, and can they do well in other areas is also yet to be proven.
