All MRT fare goes to Transitlink.

I am blaming the ole man again.

All Govt agency is trained to have profit (at least breakeven).

Profit is needed to fund the cost Centers like defence , education and social services.  These are in the billions.

PHV as a usage based traffic management system?

Since PHV is used 10-20x more than private vehicle on a daily basis, if more quota are taken up by fleet owners (vis-a-vis private owners), won't it lead to more traffic congestion, thus necessitating a cut in COE quota? That means higher COE premium and thereafter higher grab fare?  A vicious cycle?

If the intent is a usage based system, shouldn't G allocate more COE to taxi?  In Comfort I trust (but so much Grab).

*****

Think of Grab and Gojek as companies that distribute the ownership costs of the world’s most expensive cars among the thousands of people who use them.

You want to travel in a car but without paying the high COE price? Private hire cars enable you to do so.

They are the ultimate usage-based vehicles as you pay only when you use them.

Those who argue that Singapore should move from an ownership-based car policy to one based on usage - which I believe is the right way - should support having even more private hire cars on the road.

His argument is very clumsy and poorly worded.

Reading between the lines of what Iswaran and others (Amy Khor etc) have said, Govt wants PHV at the expense of private cars. Meaning they allow growth of PHV, but must have corresponding decrease in private car population. Otherwise it will just be unsustainable.

Therefore they are reluctant to do anything to curb high COE.

From home to office is about 6km.

I believe it is thereabout pre-COVID.

The most expensive short distance I ever took was $20 for 3 - 4km in 2015.

Maybe short distance is same but for most, fares have more than doubled. This is in 2022, don't think fare has dropped since.

If that is the strategy, to make private car transport public, then COE may never come down.

Good luck Singapore, good luck (to quote T2).  😂😂😂

The article has been more than 1 year.

I don’t really take PHV/Taxi.

Not sure about it.

You can find out from your 3 apps. Just stimulate some rides with a bit more distance.

😁 KNN, we all better diam diam shut up ok. Our fate is not decided by ourselves ok.

Someone up there said before, if they did not intervene into the life of commoners, this place would not be what it is now hor.

So for nong nong time, since when one has a say? Only stupid people will say don't buy car will have nothing to do with them, but these are the same people kpkb about everything increase. 🙂

So LLST ya, they decide if you or we can have car or not ok? Aspiration? My kid aspire to have his first small kiddie bicycle, he saved up and he treasured it himself till he is now grown up, serviced it one last time before passing to our neighbour's kid. Joseph Schooling father said, he can help with JS aspirations but he has to manage his own expectations. I will always remember his words.

If we chose to turn a blind eye with some things skewed to one end illogically, sorry to say, we will keep losing our own talent. Cos at the end of the day, we will ask ourselves or our children, what are we striving for? Well, I think we are already seeing this phenomenon.

They will always HAVE car, NEED car, and must be MORE than 2 hor, easily with their world highest remuneration.

You or we? Go fly kite pls, or fishing just using a line, cos no need coe one. Who knows, one day we need permits for everything cos everything should be regulated, for our good sake, isn't it? Which go-yok stall may I consult? 😉

For generations, we were told to be motivated, aim for middle class while that represents a nation's prosperity.

Now, the middle income group are the newly poor..haha.

House now smaller yet more ex...more ex yet wait longer, what happened to lower faster better ah? We on go-astern gear one ah?

Good job good job. 👏

Yes Yes indeed indeed...nothing to do with voting.

Voting that piece of paper and coe paper is different one.

Voting is can see can touch can small and can scribble (correctly).

coe paper is cannot see cannot touch but must pay one.

Best is no need vote since it's always on Saturday and I keep getting reminded my life jin good already.

If life jin good then no need vote liao mah hor? 😁
