Honda Freed Hybrid not charging at Causeway

From what I understand, Shuttle hybrid also has the "same" problem. Some people would drive the battery down to its lowest level, and then finding that they cannot start the engine.

It appears to me, it may be Honda's charging algorithm fault, that allows the battery to drain to its lowest level, maybe to boast better numbers for km/L. But I may be wrong.

For my Axio hybrid, it will not allow that to happen. If the battery is below certain level, even when the car is stopped, it will kick start the engine automatically to charge the battery. Even if you want it to stop, you can't, unless you turn off the engine.

Honda engineers never get stuck in Causeway jam before.

Japan roads all very smooth one.

So it never occurred to them this could happen.

Its like Daihatsu engineers couldn't believe people in MY drive their Axias at 120 - 150 kmh on the NSH.

So they beefed up the suspension for higher speeds.

The aunties that drive the Daihatsu or Toyota equivalent in Japan only drive to the shops and market as a much slower speed.

:D

I think the current Honda Hybrid no more this Problem,Honda Engineers woke up.

OK, I've tried today. One thing I know for sure is that my battery's max capacity is only 60% or less, so it will die faster.

This morning, I was in a jam at Causeway. I switched to "L" gear at Woodlands, and for the next 1.5 hours, the car never stalled and I went all the way to JB without a problem.

Yes, it works. "L" will charge the battery, but of course, it took out one bar of my petrol. 😆

IMHO.
Your AC on all the time or got switch off or on/off ?

@Kklee Yes, AC is on all the time. Have to lah, it's getting hot.

I also surprised, how hard i drive,my Vezel Hybrid Battery also 60% Charge,my Camry,could hit 85%.

Just trying to figure out why the algorithm does not activate the battery charging.  🤔
Also could it be other issues affecting it like the 12V battery or coolant in the engine too long ?  🤔

I find my Toyota's charging algorithm,  the harder it is driven,  the more the battery would be charge.  I recall driven hard,  the battery reach 7 out of 8 bars.

How to compare 2L vs 1.5L?

That's why a lot of good review on Civic/CRV Hybrid.

It is 2L hybrid.

In addition, Freed hybrid is ole tech now.

Hmm...  could be not enough power to charge???
Maybe the whole point could be fuel efficiency.

The whole point of hybrid is fuel efficiency.

It is well-known that latest 1.5L hybrid is less efficient in charging as compare to 2L hybrid.

But never fully charge..the last Bar..never lit,i heard Toyota wanted to make the Battery longer life..don't want it to charge 95-100%.
