IMHO.
Not necessary only in EV mode that the hybrid battery would be stressed.
Under normal driving,  if drive at an appropriate speed,  "EV Mode" can also be achieved.
The appropriate speed meaning slow. 🤣
Lithium-ion,  as long as used, will degrade over time.  This hybrid battery still need to be time tested.

Do note that there are 2 batteries,  the starter battery and hybrid battery.
The starter battery is at the back in the boot and is the normal kind - not expensive.
The hybrid battery warranty is 5 years - additional warranty is at a cost.

The hybrid battery level indicator on the dash has 8 bars  to make 100%.
The charging algorithm seems extremely conservative.
What I have seen so far,  lowest remaining is 3 bars ( 37.5% ), highest is 7 bars ( 87.5% ) with highest normal usually is 6 bars ( 75% ).

Read discussions where it says EV mode will stress and kill the small hybrid battery faster

Toyota Hybrid battery BMS is very conservative.

Never let battery deplete too much.

Never charge full.

I think EV mode can go up to 60km/h for a few minutes

I have not done any full test for EV mode but so far,  have reached about 50km/h.
Not sure if can for a few minutes -  the road runs out.  🤣

P.S.  Not sure about other models,  but I don't seem to recall other models having lithium-ion.

IMHO.
Just a tip to share.
Hybrid can move in EV mode for a short while.
For those who want to "warm up" the engine, can shift the gear selector to L.

P.S.  For my application,  my hybrid need almost twice the distance vs ICE to reach operating temperature. 🤣

IMHO.

Found that there is a maintenance mode.
Seems for Toyota Hybrid as well as Lexus.  Do test and check it out.

The maintenance mode when activated, will start the engine.
The purpose seems to be for troubleshooting and diagnostics.

How ?

1.   Press Start Button Twice
2.  Depress accelerator pedal twice.
3.  Shift gear selector to N.
4.  Depress accelerator pedal twice.
5.  Shift gear selector to P.
6.  Depress accelerator pedal twice.
7.  The instrument cluster will indicate that it is in maintenance mode.  E.g. cdy-2e
8.  Step brake and press Start Button to start the car.

Went to the Leng Kee showroom today.

The old batch all sold out.

Sales person serving me said they can't take any orders until the new batch get LTA approval which is pending.

Apparently for the new batch of Corolla Cross Hybrid, front driver seat is not electric powered but manual.

List price was mentioned as very "affordable" - only at $212,888; before COE shoots up the roof again....ummmmmm

Maybe I have to wait for another major coe correction b4 going to the showrooms again....lol

Interesting that new batch come without electric power seats? That a down grade. So what’s new about this new batch of Corolla Cross? Is a MY2024 variant?

You can look for another SE if the one is not interested to talk to you.

IMHO.
I think technically, the grille is aesthetic as when in operation,  the coolant temp and oil temp is not high.

This is going to be the look of the SG imported version?

SG imported version is from Japan, i can only make comparison vs the Msia version since it is sold there for quite some time as a CKD model

Msia:

1.8L hybrid , Toyota Hybrid Gen 4

Safety sense 2.5+, DRCC all speed (For CKD version only). They have a previous CBU from Thailand but safety sense dun have DRCC all speed

Rear Torsion beam

Leg sensor to open boot

Screen console rear is quite thick, looks like CRT more than LCD holder

SG:

2.0L hybrid , Toyota Hybrid Gen 5

Safety Sense 3 (as claimed in brochure), DRCC all speed. Not sure if it includes pedestrain and cyclists or not. If not then its 2.5+

Rear double wishbone (this one good for my aggressive cornering)

Screen console is flat at the rear

So those looking to get a boot tray from msia dun bother, the cutting is different and will not fit on SG version

The Trapo mat looks good though

Key difference between TSS 2.5+ and 3.0 should be wider angle and longer sensor range.
Pedestrian and cyclist,  I don't think activated.
Rear double wishbone is 👍
Michelin Primacy 4 is on the soft side.  Handling will be a bit compromised.

Breaking in / Break-In

Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Manual Page 149

Breaking in your new Toyota
To extend the life of the vehicle, observe the following precautions is recommended:

For the first 300km : Avoid sudden stops

For the first 1000km:
- Do not drive at extremely high speeds
- Avoid sudden acceleration
- Do not drive continuously in low gear
- Do not drive drive at a constant speed for extended period

---------

The above is likely adapted from ICE.
To best estimate the break-in mileages,  e.g.  if FC on ice is 12km/L and FC on hybrid is 24km/h,  the factor is 2x.
Thus 300km=600km and 1000km=2000km.

The challenges

a)  BM service is 1k and 5k.   1k service change EO.  5k service inspection.
b)  Break-In estimated at 2k.
c)  Engine continue to break-in at 5k. See Figure 1.

Thus best bet is to take break-in mileage as 5k.  At 5k probably change EO and filter outside?
Also need to take into consideration of break-in of tyres.  I take it as between 300-500km.

Figure 1 - Dipstick EO before 5k service.
5k.jpeg.9f9f14fb2621a38a0dec81b880feb6e4.jpeg

When I started this journey, I do not have a lot of information on this car.
My ideal break-in :

(1)  Same as what Toyota Page 149 but mileage at 5k.
(2) Service 1k - Change EO
(3) Service 5k - Change EO
(4) Run engine (maintenance mode)  for 1 minute during 1st cold start, switch off, and go to READY mode.

Why no. (4) - during 1st cold start,  the vehicle usually can move in EV mode but when the engine starts,  the engine seems to be DI mode before taking some time to change to PFI.  At slow speed,  the vehicle maybe lethargic and loud.
