Mr Neo noted that parallel importers now control some 40 per cent of the Japanese car market, and they pay for their vehicles in yen.

“I think the current COE prices will continue till year end,” he said.

Singapore Vehicle Traders Association president Neo Tiam Ting said: “The demand for private-hire cars is still there. Models like the Toyota Noah, Voxy and Alphard (models currently popular with private-hire operators) are selling well.

“Cars sold for private use are very rare these days.”

sound about right. Plus 50000 rebate on EV cars may means driving the car free for one year and selling it for a profit when the rebate for EV is removed

How you derive car-free for 1 year?

A lot of times, the rebate never really reach owner le

Without the rebate the amount is restored into the ARF. So you get something back after 10 years versus ARF 0.

To enjoy the rebate, you have to buy Tesla

Isn’t that one reason why Tesla is driving up the coe? Every new bid is 8 to 15% to ensure a successful bid

There are 15.6k new car registered from Jan to July. There are 451 new Tesla in the same period.

How does Tesla drive up COE price?

Tesla strategy is known in the market to peg on 8 to 15% . The rest of the market including ride sharing May choose other strategies.  It as the pool of cat B is consistent number , everyone in the business who need cars on the road knowing that that’s the market rate, will want to use that as the target value. Of course there are other ways and that is to place 150k to 200k bid as it’s refundable of the delta ..

Honestly, it doesn’t sound logical.

With a market share of 3%, it is difficult to say it has an influence.

On the other hand, PHV has much greater influence on COE price.

Huat ah. Coming COE bid up up and away. PHV company will bid as high as possible to increase their fleet in order to increase the profile.

Half of new PHV fleet is rental car.

That means cannot do Grab
