no offense, but might as well get a notebook + pencil. less than 5 bucks. lol. jk.

That's what I thought when I got hyped about remarkable 1. And when I showed the video to my wife, she said the same thing. And we are both fans of e ink readers.

Remarkable 2 is supposed to be a more expensive when I looked at it. I definitely don't remember it at this price point.

I bought it almost a year ago

And no risk of the dog tearing my paper notebook 😂

I didn't know so many people know it outside of e ink enthusiasts.

Its a niche more premium product.

My wife was the one who told me about it.

so I bought it… for her to use. And she’s still loving it.

i prefer to type notes into my laptop. Faster this way. But if drawing diagrams and stuff, then pen/paper or remarkable/iPad will be good

There's different note taking styles. Linear note taking like OneNote/ Evernote/apple notes. Nowadays also got obsidian and other note taking apps to act as 2nd brain.

I use Evernote for notes.

But if I'm studying or thinking about something, I use pen and paper. I got lot of A4 at home.

If u are studying something, then it changes. Mind maps can be very useful.

Anyone using e-ink tablet specifically for note taking? Any feedback or recommendation? I always find e-ink display easier on the eye than conventional LCD / LED screen, and having seen people taking notes on such devices during a seminar I have attended recently, I started to do some read up and is toying with the idea to get one, to better organize my physical notes.

2 models I am particularly interested are the Kindle Scribe and Boox Note Air 2 Plus. Both spotting a 10.3" screen and are priced in the $600 region, which are not cheap honestly (many choices of tablet with that kind of budget), but it may be able to improve my productivity if they serve the purpose.

Primary usage of the device would be note taking and reading in pdf format, and I don't need fanciful add-ons such as speaker, mic, ability to play music or video. Please share your opinion. TIA.

I got the Sony digital paper many many years ago, for a similar use case. It is stuck in my drawer ever since. The biggest problem I think is although the e ink screen sound nice, the thing is just too laggy compared with an iPad. It is too much a one trick pony to be useful enough for me to charge it and use it. My iPad does so much more.

If I had a dog do that, I’ll tear him a new one! 😂

Thank you for all the input and feedback.

My main purpose of getting an E-ink device is for note taking, so the writing feel is preferably as close to paper as possible. I have an older gen iPad and tried writing on it with an Apple pencil I borrowed from a friend, it lack the tactile feel, and even worst than writing on whiteboard using a brand new marker. Sorry I can' think of a better way to describe the feel.

I admit I am not good with organizing my notes as I like to write in physical notebook, A4 paper and even recycled paper, basically whatever I can grab at the moment, so having a device for better note management is also my other consideration.

The Remarkable sounds good for my needs. Do they have a physical store in Singapore, or is there any place the set is available for testing?

I used a paper like screen protector on my ipad. So the writing is very similar to writing on paper.

It would be the same with any writing tablet, it will need a paper like screen protector to give you the feel of writing on paper.

You can watch this guy's videos where he reviews various writing and drawing tablets. He is a graphic designer for SPH.

Neutral Newbie

I've been eyeing e-ink tablets for note-taking too. They're easier on the eyes, which is a big plus for long reading or writing sessions. I haven't tried Kindle Scribe or Boox Note Air 2 Plus yet, but I hear good things about their 10.3" screens and note-taking capabilities.

Personally, I use an online notepad that deletes notes after reading, which is handy for privacy. It's great for jotting down quick ideas or organizing thoughts. If you're leaning towards an e-ink tablet, those models sound solid for boosting productivity with their features.
