ManU 1 (Varane) - Wolves 0 (EPL - Home)

With the usual 4-2-3-1 formation, it was new-signing Onana in goal, Rashford supported by Ganarcho, Bruno and Antony with new-signing Mason Mount and Casemiro in midfield and the back four consisting of Shaw, Martinez, Varane and AWB. It was Wolves in the front foot with more intensity and attempts at goal and us only coming to life after the 35th minute but resorted to robust play with Martinez and Shaw booked. New signing Mount was not inspiring, having lost possession and control of the ball few times. A dismal first half in the first game of the season.

A change for Martinez with Varane at the start of the second half was followed by Eriksen and Sancho for the ineffective Mount and Ganarcho. A lob by AWB found Varane at the far post for him to nod in a goal in the 76th minute, with Mctominay replacing Rashford to defend the slim lead. Goalie Onana has an excellent game and new-signing Hojlund was in attendance pending his start form an injury. With DDG and Fred out, not much in terms of ETH's expectations for new players, due to the buy-high and sell-low predicament we have found ourselves in.

His weekly wages around 190K with 2 more years left in his contract and ETH provides empathy after dethroning him of the captaincy to Bruno, saying he still does have a role in MU barring injuries to the backline. He is in only for the money, considering his age, sell-by date, loss of face and him having to play regularly to be in the England team.

Mount 🤮

At 200K weekly, his ball control was disappointing and gegen-pressing can't be compared to Weghorst or even Sabitzer but ETH wants him to replace Eriksen, who's age and loss of form was apparent towards the end of last season. Furthermore, Casemiro seems reckless with his tackles and red-cards hence Amrabat was considered.

ManU 0 - Spurs 2 (EPL - Away)

With a 4-1-4-1 formation this time with the same players in the previous game, both teams had many chances with a penalty for handball waived, Bruno and Rashford's chances gone abegging and Spurs having slightly more of possession and two shots against the woodwork. With Shaw getting overun and the midfield of Bruno, Casemiro and Mount lacking fluency, the first half had no goals to show for, except for the yellow cards that AWB, Antony and Bruno received.

An early goal from Spurs gave them the confidence to dictate play and dominate the second half with another goal in the 82nd minute. Substitutions with Sancho, Dalot, Antony and later Pellestri and Martial for Ganarcho, AWB, Antony, Mount and Rashford did not increase the intensity required to break the jinx of our away games as in the last season.

The sponsors had a big say in MU associating negatively with Greenwood, with Adidas providing 1.15 billion over 10 years, with the top 5 sponsors netting us 73% of total sponsorship income, excluding TV rights, merch sales and membership / gate collections. Perhaps good for both parties to move on, with ETH having options for his position with Antony, Pellistri and even Bruno and Mainoo as alternatives, now that Mount is here to pair up with Casemiro.

ManU 3 (Eriksen / Casemiro / Bruno-pen) - Nottingham Forest 2 (EPL - Home)

A horrendous start with 2 goals in the first 4 minutes, with Onana and the defence caught napping for the 2 goals respectively. With Shaw, Malacia and Mount injured, it was Dalot and Eriksen in replacement, with Martial supported by Rashford, Bruno and Antony in support. A Rashford cutback found Eriksen to reduce the deficit in the 18th minute, with Forest parking the bus and leaving us to launch attacks more effectively from the flanks instead of the congested midfield.

With a change for the injured Varane with Lindelof at the start of the second half saw us on the front foot with good movement and resulted in Casemiro's goal to level the score. The ineffective Martial was replaced with Sancho in the 60th minute and with a Forest player red-carded for bringing Bruno down just outside the box and a penalty awarded when Rashford was brought down inside the box in the 75th minute and converted by Bruno, saw us through this hard-fought match, even with the eleven minutes time added-on.

ManU 1 (Rashford) - Arsenal 3 - (EPL - Away)

The familiar 4-2-3-1 system with the same players as in the previous game, but fans having high expectations as both Hojlund and Reguilon are on the wings, and looking forward to their first appearance and capabilities. Pinned mostly in our own half, it was only in the 26th minute that Rashford scored against the run of play after Eriksen's inch-perfect pass, only to have it cancelled out two minutes later when Odegaard levelled the score. With Martial hardly having a shot and just a passenger, he should make way for Hojlund in the second half.

With Hojlund making his debut in the 66th minute for Martial after Arsenal's penalty was denied, we had a second wind and more assertiveness, with Ganarcho's goal disallowed for offside. The substitutions by ETH were made late to make any difference, especially when Rashford and Antony were under-performing, and In the end it was Arsenal's day with two more goals and a well-deserved victory with their superior performance.
