Lol.

We are having difficulty finding enough bus/passenger van drivers for even primary school children. School bus fees are few hundred dollars per kid... and the transport is only for 2 trips a day at off-peak periods.

And people are talking about getting buses to ferry 4-5 digits worth of foreign workers to at least hundreds (if not few thousand) different work sites every single day. 😐

Might as well say give every construction company one free minibus.

I believe that workers also want to get back after a long day of work. They would rather climb up the lorry with the tools  than wait for the bus to come. Last time in NS also all cheong for the tonner to get back to base first than wait for the bloody bus transport to turn up.

Everyday thousands of eggs are transported safely to hawkers all over Singapore

for the Char Kway Teow and Oyster omelette.

This is because lorry drivers carrying eggs are not speeding on lane 1

and cutting in left, right and centre and speeding in the wet.

This is because if they crash and break all the eggs hawkers will not accept the cracked eggs and refuse to pay!

The egg company towkay will be furious he lose money and f@#k the drivers royally.

if lorries can carry millions of eggs safely every year in SG why lorries cannot carry thousands of workers every year safely in SG?

:D

So its nothing to do with money but to do with speeding and reckless driving.

Plain and simple.

So construction company towkays just need to tell their lorry drivers

carrying workers - please imagine you are carrying eggs and drive safely

and I don't want to see even one egg head cracked!

All these big bosses are crying wolf saying cost will increase and so what they effectively mean is their P&L will be hit. Its not mandatory that they have to pass all the additional costs to the end consumer. While some cost increases to the consumer is unavoidable,  but the businesses themselves should be looking at cushioning the costs.

Anyways government is also full of wayang , just talk only and have all the toothless paper tiger agencies to "monitor" the situation.

Again as most people here pointed out, lorry or bus, it is the driver who is the cause of accidents and not the vehicle per se. If there is sufficient enforcement of the road rules by the never seen white ants on the road bus or lorry or car accidents can be reduced.

My 2 cents.

Fully agree and I see many others agree too. It's the terrible drivers that they employ to drive these workers, and very often it's another FW with dubious driving skills or licence. I always give a wide berth to these suicidal lorries.

No point putting these workers in a bus but driver no change.

And don't rely on the companies to improve the quality of their drivers. These people only understand dollars and cents. Got to hit them in the wallet where it hurts. More enforcement by TP is needed.

Supersonic

From around 5 am to 6 am, you'll see many G and Y plates speeding in lane 2 on major expressways, with whatever they are carrying, people, metals, etc.

Why?, bcuz TP are sleeping, they know that.

Its the driver, never the vehicle. There are just as many accidents with errant bus drivers.

Transporting workers in buses and the bus drivers speeding in lane 1, cutting in and out and speeding in the wet and crashing also get injured workers.

All the people suggesting buses please think lah.

Buses are also not as safe as transporting them in armored personnel carriers!

Cost should not be spared at any expense right?

Safety is the most important blah blah blah . . .

Why is the title Safety or money first?

Can it be - Drive safely or drive like a maniac crashing and cracking the heads of workers in the back!

Actually not crashing saves the company money!

All the workers in hospital who is going to do the work?

The construction company towkay huh?

He is recovering from his hangover from last night KTV session how to carry bricks up the building?

:D
