From my experience they still do accept cash. However, be prepared to not get any change back.

I have Alipay for a long while never explored this. Tks for the tip! Any more useful features?

I also dunno many features. As long it allows me to pay for daily expenses like didi, metro, mama shop, restaurant, etc.... it is good enough features for me :D

Cash is still acceptable but try to bring loose change. If u go mama shop, give 100 rmb for a bottle of water, the cashier will give u a TL look. Some dun bother n say, "no change".  :D

I am planning to travel to China next month. Does anyone have an update regarding using cash, or know which places accept it? I plan to visit Beijing and Shanghai, but I'm open to other recommendations. Also, I'm considering booking a personalized tour through https://gowithguide.com/China Do you think it's necessary, or can I go solo? Thanks in advance! 🍻

Dear all,

I need to go for a  business trip in China (Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Shanghai) in late October and would appreciate some advice.

1.       I am currently using the cheapo Heya $10,  I don’t think it could support autoroam in China.  Which is the best plan I should get in Singapore first before flying off?

2.       I need to have access to WhatsApp, Google etc while in China, what are the ways to get around?

3.       What are the important  China Apps I should pre-install in Singapore

4.       Is there a problem using VISA/mastercard in China?

5.       Can I buy a train ticket in advance (in Singapore) for traveling from Shenzhen to Guangzhou?  If yes, what is the best App to use?

6.        Other helpful advice.

Many thanks folk, noob here.  Last traveled to China was in year 2005, so a lot of things have changed.  Need to get refreshed.

Get simba 12 dollars plan. It works. Slow but normal banned apps will work for foreign SIM carda.

You need either Alipay or wechat pay. No app, go hungry!

Hotels should accept Visa /Master cards.

Train tickets I think can try ctrip. Not sure, never have to buy myself. Now foreign Passports can be used to go through the gantry, no need to collect physical ticket (you still can collect from the counter if you want to have peace of mind).

I might just bump into u in SH!

Didi has 2 versions. The one without map background is for China HK Macau. Other countries use the one with map background.
