i think $500m criteria is too high ... $100m should suffice ... [confused]

Depends on who you want to be the candidate.

Keppel Corp NAV is 11.9b.

Does it even matter?

Look at all the past presidents,  pap say quality means qualify.

In the end,  OTC tried to do his job, look what happened to him.

The others would have done more good and happiness for singaporeans if they just go open prata, fried chicken,  nasi lemak restaurants. Their... and anyone's..  supposed financial qualifications have absolutely nothing to do with their job performance.

Is tharman qualified,  OF COURSE! On paper...

Will he be an OTC? Personally... I doubt so.

And thus,  post OTC, not only the presidents,  but the whole presidency itself ... what's the point but millions and millions and millions of dollars drained.

Original intent was good but after OTC, PAP realized ownself check ownself works best.

Another thing.

If they are serious. There should be a 2 stage.  If there's more than 2 contenders but no one gets a absolute over 50%, then the 2 best go 2nd round. It's actually done in many places.

KFC won because of vote splitting.. and it can still happen. One might even say it was planned.

Don’t waste money and time.

We have adopted first pass vote system.

Otherwise no 3 no 4

OG intent has always been ownself check ownself.

Look at how Oppo was fixed.

Original intent was never to check ownself.  Cos the pres will always be a pap insider.

The intention is for a pap pres to check a non pap govt if pap loses majority.

It's firstly a second key to let pap hold some power even if it loses... not so much to protect reserve.

Scare voters will decide who to vote for basing on attendance at rallies ah? :D

If that is the case, why not have 1-on-1 debate sessions on TV, instead of each making their own statement on TV?

Rallies ‘may be divisive’, not encouraged for Presidential Election: Elections Department

SINGAPORE: Rallies are not encouraged for the Presidential Election and there will be no designated rally sites, said the Elections Department (ELD) on Saturday (Aug 12).

This is because election meetings “by their nature and format” may be divisive and are not congruent with the unifying role of the elected President, it said in a press release.

Television will be the key medium of the campaign because of its national reach, said the ELD.

Each candidate will be allocated two blocks of 10 minutes of airtime free of charge to make their statements across 19 Mediacorp TV channels, as well as the radio channels of Mediacorp, Singapore Media Trust (SMT) and SoDrama!.

These Presidential Candidate Broadcasts will be aired on Aug 24 and Aug 30.

Mediacorp’s televised Presidential Forum will be broadcast live on CNA on Aug 28, with live streams on CNA’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. There will be a repeat telecast of the forum on Channel 5 the next day.
