It's funny how much media attention apple got from this announcement when hololens and quest has been out for so many years. I've been using hololens for the past few years and it's pretty amazing.

I seriously doubt apple is going to do something drastically different from hololens and was really surprised at the level of attention it got from the announcement. But this shows the power of branding. Apple being Apple, vision pro is probably gonna be well built, light with fantastic graphics and merge seamlessly with their eco system which I find are the cons for hololens.

But AR is AR, I just don't see what's the hype other than then crazy price tag. And Apple din even show it's actual usage and people are so excited about the renders.

Agree the HoloLens is right up there with the work that I do but this brings the whole suite into the ecosystem. Will know how much better it will be only when I get my hands on it

I think the most impressive thing about vision pro is that they actually show a guy wearing it and kicking a real ball back. If the feed through video is so realistic that allows you to kick a moving ball accurately, I think this will be a real game changer. I watch a video they say the feed is so real that you can judge distance accurately, allowing you to interact with real life objects like kicking balls picking up stuff easily. 
 

I don’t think quest or HoloLens can do that. HoloLens is like Fujifilm hybrid optical viewfinder where they superimpose stuff on top of optical feed. Vision pro is like fully electronic viewfinder. There are a lot more stuff u can do with a fully electronic viewfinder. 
 

Imagine u can zoom in on details or see in the dark or look at the sun. it will be like bionic eyes. I think it can be done in the near future as it’s just a matter of video sensor tech once they get the video feed through tech working.
