From the SQ website:

"Can Scoot passengers use KrisFlyer lounge?

Please be informed that customers travelling on Scoot flights are not eligible to access the lounges."

Haha what a question!

If fly Skoot can use the KF lounge maybe people personal trips all use Skoot and not SQ.

Of course company paying SQ all the way!

:D

Now if Skoot is $700 cheaper then I would use the $700 to go restaurant and coffee house and order everything.

I am sure I will have nicer food than at KF lounge and better service!

Should I buy a JR train pass ? It covers the KIX to Kyoto and local JR trains in Kyoto...

Calculate KIX to Kyoto and how many local trains you will use

but I think based on your trip plan even with the old cheaper JR Pass still not worth it.

Wifey and me max out the JP Pass in our younger days but we really traveled a lot a lot.

Every night different hotel and different city and every day stop a few different places

eat, sight see and then take the train to next location.

Some say Kyoto is the worst place to travel with a baby.

Some say after going honeymoon in Kyoto came back with a baby.

This has driven me off onsens a bit:

The bath water at a Japanese inn, which was reported to have bacterial levels 3,700 times the limit, had been changed only twice a year “since around 1998”, said a former employee of Daimaru Besso, local media reported.

The Monkey Park?  If the kid is old enough to walk & run ,  maybe still ok, but guarantee will complain on the way up. If baby, definitely have to carry/strap during the whole hike up.

It is quite a zig-zag incline long hike to the top of the hill/mountain where the monkey park is.

I remember going up this monkey park hill after coming down from Inari.  I wished I did it the next day after rest.....😆

They are actually quite fierce.....not as cuddly as they look.

Up there, there is a caged house where most of the tourist will be.  So it is kind of funny.....the monkey will be outside the caged house looking in with most of the humans inside.  For once, I was confused by who is the human and who is the animal.....😁

PS- I once visited a palace with a wooden floor that detects ninjas, but I can't remember what's the name - love to let my little 'un test that.... despite my martial arts background, I failed that test...

Definitely Nijo-jo. Visited once many many years ago. Must take note of opening hours to avoid disappointment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nijō_Castle

Used to take Keihan line train as it is the closest line that ply through many of the temples there, and spent whole day walking the whole temple belt around the Sanjo, Shijo, and Gojo area. So many temples there and all will look alike after just 1 hour haha. Experience really depend on the weather when you there. If cool days in Autumn or spring, everything will look very nice especially the red leaves during autumn season. If visit during August/September, you will curse and swear after just 1 hour as very very hot. Good walking shoes would be essential.

A good starting point would be the Gion Shijo area where you can rent Kimono and walk towards the Maruyama Park, then slowly make the way towards Kyomizu-dera temple. When you spot any beautiful ladies in kimono do not assume that they would be Japanese and swarm to take pictures with them. Many of them would be foreigners from China, Korea, Singapore, etc ,etc haha.

To me Kyoto notable to visit would be the temple belt around Maruyama Park including the Philosophy Walk, Arashiyama,  Nishiki market, Hiei mountain area with the ropeway. If want to visit onsens, Lake Biwa area would have plenty. Should be cheaper with much better views than downtown Kyoto.

depends on which lounge la.... if u are talking the gold class or the plaza premium then its defintely not worth the effort or $$.

the SIA first class provides ala carte food options... cook upon order and free flow of premium wines
