What stopping me now is the memory size, only 256Gb and 8gb ram. My 3yrs Notes 20 already come with 256gb and 12gb ram. Hope to get at least 512gb and 12gb ram. locally, 512gb for china phones will only be the flagship. Like oppo find x5 pro and possibly x6 pro when it reaches. even then they tend to go out of stock and not be restocked. N2 flip not flagship here. I agree, probably for something to be snappy, a 12gb one would be good. Edited April 18, 2023 by Lala81 ↡ Advertisement

I always also re-new my contract and buy low. Just that I own 2 phones at one go. Means every one over year I got to check for a new one. Normally I just get latest and be happy with it for the next one over year, then it will rotate to my second phone. Normally one is only on standby and getting message and calls with little usage. Alot of flagship overkill with their specs, or rather, most people who uses it are under utilizing their capability. Nowadays soc memory management system is good enough for daily normal usage. Of course u gonna run into problem if you disable all the optimization even if you have 12gig. The phones that really demand memory are the gaming phones. if you play games that need 120fps for a few hours, you need a 16gig of ram.

Unless u are talking about 16gb, i think its not required. Anyway it's all a package. What UFS storage are you using, what chipset, how much RAM u have. If u use phones until like 4 years, the experience difference between using a flagship vs a mid range becomes very apparent. Only for apple, it doesnt make much difference cos of their optimised OS. That's why lot of people actually buy old flagships rather than buy midrange phones in the past. But admittedly midrangers are much stronger nowadays. Lala81 Hypersonic April 20, 2023 Share April 20, 2023 Back to this point. If a phone had 8gb and 12gb variant, I would go for the 12gb variant esp since it's usually tied to larger capacity. If it had 12 vs 16, I would go for 12gb. 8gb phones are strictly for higher end mid rangers nowadays. There is a rule of diminishing returns. But over time, the flagship specs will give you more return as the phone ages. Of course, some people tend to just buy mid rangers on a regular schedule like two yearly. Like my BIL.
