You are using the fast charging rates.

Could be urban legend.

Tesla Model 3 battery degrades 11% after 155k miles.

Use Tesla supercharger only

Reported across all EVs. Even BMW doesn’t recommend it. Wonder why

fast charger is no good for car battery long term.

Most will slow charge should be residential electricity rate which is around 28 cents KWH

how to use residential electricity unless you stay in landed. even those charge+ at HDB carpark using AC charging also 50+cents/kwh

I stand corrected. So 50kwh x 55 cents will be $27.5

thermal degradation of components is a real thing. fast charging generates more heat than slow charging. Furthermore Singapore is so hot and humid, it reduces the efficiency of the battery cooling system to dump the excess heat.

the 'good news' is that a lot of our DC charges only run at 50kW (eg: SP Group chargers in shopping centres), whereas those studies talking about degradation are probably those using 100kW+ charging which will generate more heat than 50kW charging.

I went Suntec comex IT show this weekend. EV charging lots still available, good location, right next to convention centre lift lobby.

I used the slower AC charger instead of DC because I didn't want it to finish charging so fast while I was still at the IT show... not to mention save some money

The carpark around the convention centre area was quite full already.... if i use DC charger and it finished charging fast, worried got some angry EV driver take photo of my car and complain on stomp why I never move my car after the charging finished 😁

I reduced use of SP for EV charging wherever possible because they are so damned expensive now. There are alternative options. I still remember it was 40+ cents per kW for SP AC charging 2-3 yrs back. But their network is now indeed quite widespread and convenient.
