RIP

I didn't think much of him as a person, but he was in some of my favorite movies, and in particular, Saving Private Ryan and Heat

The scene in Ryan where he gathers sand into a tobacco tin, always gets me. So much is said without a single word..

Live life to fullest,  then go out swiftly.

No suffering... not a bad way to go.

We would be lucky to have the same.

Most definitely saving ryan's privates or is it saving private ryan?

Not long after leaving NS this show brought back a lot of memories. Like the beach breaching where they blow up the perimeter wires. I realised back then we had been learning a lot of ww2 stuff, even the fire movement after watching band of brothers. Tom played the platoon sergeant who collects soil samples from every countries he fought.

RIP Tom.

Black hawk down is what the gen after us is learning, all the fighting in built up areas. But still we saw some old weapons used like the 88mm or 106mm recoilless gun/rifle mounted on a toyota truck used by the Somalia rebels. Our support elements were still using the 88mm during our ict (1-2 decades ago), fired off the shoulder type, not vehicle mounted . It is carried by a team of soldiers soldiers, two carrying ammo, other one carrying the recoilless gun(short barrel). Looks heavy.

FF 1:08

I think what we had learnt back then had became outdated. Now there are so many modern weapons.

🤣🤣🤣 yeah..  I remember the Bangalore torpedo drill, breach the wire, 2 stick chiong, go left right, form up....even back then,  I tot it was suicidal. I hope never ever to have to do it.😬

Btw... it's the 84mm Carl Gustav we had and not 88mm (that's famous tiger tank gun) 😆

Ya, nobody saw the footage of the us corpses dragged through the street in mogadishu?

I did. Unforgettable.

Their mothers watched their sons' body being dragged, stomped and kicked by laughing happy folks.

Although the news cycle was designed pre 911 to rile up the American.

Those folks were happy man, dragging naked white guys in the street.

What do you know?

NEW YORK: Lance Reddick, a character actor who specialised in intense, icy and possibly sinister authority figures on TV and film, including The Wire, Fringe and the John Wick franchise, has died. He was 60.

Reddick died “suddenly” Friday morning, his publicist Mia Hansen said in a statement, attributing his death to natural causes. His death was first reported by celebrity website TMZ.

Guy was bloody fit looking and still had 6 pack at his age.

Seems many apparently very healthy looking people dying suddenly. Even during ns, also saw such incident in my unit. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe there's something to be said about living and enjoying for the day instead of depriving yourself. 🤔
