From young spend whole life training and gave us an Olympic medal. Honestly that's a level of sacrifice, result and dedication how many did?... kee chiu!!🤣

Plus If he had failed... ZERO rewards. Even pap mp failed also got golden GLC cushion.

And in comparison... the ENTIRE Singapore football team... how?

Wishing him all the best, move on, and enjoy.

Chasing a dream, and defending a title is very different, the mental part and what can motivate is different. This one I can fully understand and feel it. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

I feel he made the right move.

He has peaked and he knew it.

Retire when your peak performance is still fresh in many's memory and not wait for your achievements to be overshadowed by your subsequent non-achievements.

I think what he said was correct. Give him a chance to be a "normal" person again. Problem is, after a while, he may find the "normal" anonymous life totally depressing after experiencing so much adulation over the gold medal. One day you are a superstar and the next, no one cares. It might affect him mentally so got to be careful. He's got to find something purposeful to do. If I were him, migrate to US and take up swim coach job (collegiate level sports is very competitive there), surely he'd be welcomed in the renowned colleges and varsities, and have a better life than here.

He already has a swim school.

He wants to take up golf

He also going into venture capital investment biz.

Think he will have plenty of things to do.

Looks like the things that he will be doing is better than swimming competitively.
