Does google map have accurate tracking of traffic condition in MCE?

Anyone knows does google map have accurate and real time tracking of traffic condition under the tunnels, especially for long tunnels like MCE since there is very limited access to satellites?  How is google map able to detect a bad traffic jam under the tunnel ? Does it track the in and out timming of each devices to know how much time a car spend in the tunnel ?

I think all these navigation apps use estimation when vehicles are in tunnels or in situations when there is no gps reception.

Traffic jams or congestion estimation could be utilising pooled data from users.

With Waze, the users like us report jams and accidents on the app real-time. Should be more accurate as long as everyone contributes his part.

Hope there are no sabo kings. 😁

I lose signal on Waze when I'm in MCE/KPE... you mean you have signal on Waze when in the tunnels?

Most important..... TP location or speed camera.

Especially when travel.

I don't use GPS so I just look at good ole EMAS every now and then

I know the way but still use GPS to avoid geting into traffic accidents jammed.

I will also check LTA apps before start driving.

Same if long journey i will use gps to see fastest route even though i know the way to go

The problem is when both ecp, cte are red while MCE is blue, does it mean that MCE really have no jam or because the GPS is unable to track the traffic in the tunnel ? If google map gives is the wrong info, it will be nightmare to be stuck in a 10km tunnel😪😪

I doubt Google takes in GPS data of mobile devices running Google Maps/Waze inside tunnels where there are no GPS signals. As long as there are connectivity to 4G/5G mobile networks, telemetry or perhaps heartbeat data can be sent to Google to aggregate and calculate traffic conditions.

Moreover, Google can also use past historical traffic data to infer the traffic conditions at any point in time of the day.

I would say Google is very accurate in depicting traffic conditions in tunnels like MCE and KPE.

Waze is pretty useless in most tunnels, i should try Google map then.

3 men in India navigating with Google Maps die after driving car off incomplete bridge

The damaged bridge was reportedly not reflected on Google Maps and there were no barriers put up

I have drove few times with maps into dead areas, but still manage to stop and get out. These people follow blindly lah

"Due to dense #fog, the incomplete bridge was not visible" Can't compare with driving during good visibility.

I also drive in dense fog lah (China, US and Mexico all have), when got fog, also need to go slow, if you cannot see more than 20 meters, please just come to a slow stop and don't continue to drive. (I have ever stop driving due to visibility and park safely somewhere too) Over here in Tomyam land, there was even one time I slow down and get into a multi-storey carpark to take a break due to the super heavy rain.

Of cos the incomplete bridge with no barriers is a problem. But if you slow down due to fog, you will also notice there will be signs of incompletion. Just don't follow blindly and look ahead.

At the end of the day, they become heroes to remind the contractors to put up barriers only.

I am not trying to argue, Google also have problems, they are not 100% accurate especially here in Tomyam land where they block or change as necessary. When the goggle AI tells you the direction, when they are not sure left or right, they keep quiet as I notice.

As well as if you use them often today, they ask you if speed check is still there, if the car breakdown is still there or accident still there. Fish, when you driving, you don't press the screen to answer these questions or read them.

Google/Waze rely on users to provide the input.

If can, press lo.

For ppl using Apple carplay or Android auto, it is not difficult to press.

What annoy more in Sg is call EMAS to report bad road condition.
