Complex Braddell-Upper Serangoon-Bartley road junction to be simplified

Work started in August, and when it is completed by the middle of 2023, the reconfigured junction should be easier to navigate.

In the reconfiguration, two traffic islands, five small yellow boxes and six traffic lights will be removed. In their place will be one big yellow box, with just one set of traffic lights per direction. All existing right turns will be retained.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said the project “will simplify the current junction configuration into a normal cross junction”.

When completed, “motorists can expect more seamless traffic flows through the cross junction, while pedestrians and cyclists can look forward to a wider footpath along the Upper Serangoon Road stretch”.

Think not only here. I notice many such junction under those flyovers always have confusing set of traffic lights. And all of them also have stupid traffic light setting when green light is given for traffic to turn right, and immediately the next traffic light is red. Then all cars got stuck at the junction.

More priority should be given to

1. Fix Newton circus stupid traffic lights first

2. Attend to potholes faster. Dont wait for oneservice report only, road maintenance should be proactive

Newton no need lights or markings. Just cheong! That’s why it’s a roundabout in the first place. Bigger roundabouts in Paris and Italy work fine.
those who complain and cannot drive there means they cannot make it. 🤣

If cheong not in a recklessly way then ok. But seems like most drivers dont know what they are doing in a roundabout. 😅

Proactive is a thing in the past, only in LKY era

Now it’s simply reactive.

During LKY, things are simple. More headcount can be deployed.

Now headcount so ex, how to deploy?

So let me understand this correctly: someone cost the taxpayers extra money to build a more complicated junction in the past and now the taxpayers are going to pay again to simplify it and it’s being spun as an “improvement”?

Same with ERP2 screw up. Those LTA directors still collecting their pay checks and everything else is other people’s fault!
