The sky also cry for him...😭

It started to drizzle during the casket transfer and it poured when the procession started.

Noob question ...... in any fire or other workplace accidents its SCDF or MOM (depending on the type of site incident) they are the one's to highlight workers safety or infringes; Now in this case who takes over them??  Fire's happen regularly and worksite accidents happen too regularly.... hope its not a case of ownself check ownself now??

If I'm not wrong. Mom only involved in workplace incidents. So might not be involve for household fire. Likely only scdf.

Exactly .... was just drawing a parallel as both these Agencies are the one's having the last word in their respective fields ..... of course MOM is more admin and compliant based (just paper work execution/ collating info and rectification measures thereafter with $$$ to the contractor/biz owner) but SCDF is real time real world just like the Polis

I believe work place accident can be prevented given stringent SOP, but fire sites are full of uncertainty.

Old flats are always at higher risks coz the original cables are thinner than the current ones. Sockets are insufficient and db are smaller coz last time not much appliances. High load will heat up the wires and damage the insulation. People should be educated on this also.

@MacrosszeroSAF is fighting a war of deterence while the SCDF/SPF are operating in real life situation; however I feel National Service deserves a much higher level of recognition in how every Singapore born male put life at risk...telling us that new citizens do not need to do NS as they did not enjoyed the same benefits as those born here really tell us how much recognition there is for what we went thru 2-2.5 years. Sad.

Noticed that the condition of rental flats are usually not very good.. Does HDB as the landlord check and replace all the old electrical wiring and sockets that tends to deteriorate after many years of usage?

This would only be possible if the flats undergo upgrading programme where electrical wiring will be checked along with the other stuffs like plumbing, ceiling etc. But those staying in rental flat are 'temporary' so unlikely they will want to pay for these checks and replacements. And seeing HDB have been incurring 'losses' every year, no way would they want to absorb this cost as well. Thus there is minimal maintenance for such flats unless there is a safety risk, I guess.

I figure it's more of an age problem rather than any enjoyment of "benefits".

For a new citizen get the citizenship in 30s or 40s or older, working professional, how to be suitable for NS?

But if they have kids that get citizenship, say, in the teens or younger, those kids can't avoid NS.

The flats are not old and dingy, despite being rental. Not sure if it is a newly built block but it sure does look new based on photos of the unoccupied unit that the affected families moved into.

I agree. In other countries military personnel get a lot of benefits (free/cheaper public transport, priority for Govt services etc). Here our NS boys are treated like cheap labour.

It's not new ah. The flats were built in the 70s.
