PSP415 Supersonic November 20, 2022 Share November 20, 2022 Paiseh, I originally thought it could be due to alternator but u clarify that hybrid no alternator. I Googled and this came up : Not sure if u checked this and its cleared. Just curious and hope u are able to resolve it soon. There is no torque coverter because is actually a manual gearbox in disguise. But I'll check if the transmission is low on fluid. Thanks. Also, all the engine mounts and transmission mounts are all intact.

Why not drive down to Ah Heng, SKM Motors at First Centre, Kaki Bukit Ave 2 for him to help you listen and perhaps can pinpoint possible culprit(s)? Or let him do a test drive with you. Rong time ago, my Jazz 1.5 (A) had a distinct humming/wheezing sound and he took it for a test drive. My wheel bearings. Mileage then was 112k km. Replaced them and ride was quiet as a church mouse, me poorer like one too after that. 😅😂😂😂 Took the opportunity to change fuel pump n filter plus a host of stuff. Just sharing. Stay safe Cheers PS : if you want to avoid long queues, best to drop by between 9.15-9.45am to wait otherwise quite busy once workshop open at 10am. Rickster 5th Gear November 21, 2022 Share November 21, 2022 15 hours ago, Wildfaye29 said: General info 7 Speed Dual Clutch gearbox 1.5L engine with Hybrid 4 year old 55k Kms Servicing done every 10K - Engine oil+filter Other major fluids every 20K - Brake, clutch, gearbox, coolant Symptoms: I am experiencing a strange humming sound from the front of the car which gets louder as the speed increases. Recently changed to a set of Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 from JB (early Oct) - Tyres are relatively quiet, after about 3 weeks and 800kms suddenly the humming sound surfaced, suspected tyre run-in and got noiser, hence swop front to rear and the sound persisted. Swoped 4 tyres with my friend's Bridgestone RE004(20k km) and the sound is still present. Verdict - Not tyres. Did some running tests with the following results: Car will swop between engine and EV battery mode during cruising - in both modes - sound persisted. While humming is present - shifted to Neutral gear to coast - sound persisted. My mechanic (not PI workshop) suspects the noise is coming from the gearbox main shaft bearing as it is constantly in motion even if the gears are not engaged. I would like to seek some advise on the possible cause of this noise before I seek a second opinion and possibly try to claim warrantly for any premature wear from my PI. 🙂 Thank you very much in advance 🙂 I have an almost similar problem in my previous car with humming sound coming from the front engine compartment (hard to pinpoint where exactly). Sound will not be there when i'm travelling below 50 km/hr, will get louder as i reach 80 km/hr. Then beyond 80km/hr, the humming sound will be gone. Thought was gearbox, so i tried multiple times to put the gear (dual clutch) into neutral and the sound is still there, tried without a/c, the sound still there between 50-80. In the end, it was the front left drive shaft. Got it replaced under warrant and sound is totally gone.

Probably may be a good idea to go back to AD if another workshop still can't figure it out. Ideally, the AD can diagnose the problem and u can go 3rd party workshop to get the fix. Gnahp Turbocharged November 21, 2022 Share November 21, 2022 last night when I was driving on expressway I heard a faint humming sound from the back of the car at first I thought there was a motorcycle hiding in my blind spots after checking, no motorcycle the buzzing sound gets louder and pitch become higher when I driving faster below certain speed it disappear then I remember this topic in MCF my mind was occupied by all the possibilities after dinner when I walked towards the car I saw this hanging on the back of the car, kiap by the boot lid it's from the clothes that my wife bought earlier on 😑

None of the CV boots are torn! I am hoping its inside the boots thats making all the noise but not yet to the point its torn.
kobayashiGT Internal Moderator November 22, 2022 Share November 22, 2022 I would suspect it is the alternator too. But then again, if you realised that you have some issue, you might wanna go down and speak to your mechanic, they can troubleshoot with all the proper equipment. I think no point for us to make wild guesses.
