Wildfaye29 Turbocharged November 20, 2022 Share November 20, 2022 General info 7 Speed Dual Clutch gearbox 1.5L engine with Hybrid 4 year old 55k Kms Servicing done every 10K - Engine oil+filter Other major fluids every 20K - Brake, clutch, gearbox, coolant Symptoms: I am experiencing a strange humming sound from the front of the car which gets louder as the speed increases. Recently changed to a set of Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 from JB (early Oct) - Tyres are relatively quiet, after about 3 weeks and 800kms suddenly the humming sound surfaced, suspected tyre run-in and got noiser, hence swop front to rear and the sound persisted. Swoped 4 tyres with my friend's Bridgestone RE004(20k km) and the sound is still present. Verdict - Not tyres. Did some running tests with the following results: Car will swop between engine and EV battery mode during cruising - in both modes - sound persisted. While humming is present - shifted to Neutral gear to coast - sound persisted. My mechanic (not PI workshop) suspects the noise is coming from the gearbox main shaft bearing as it is constantly in motion even if the gears are not engaged. I would like to seek some advise on the possible cause of this noise before I seek a second opinion and possibly try to claim warrantly for any premature wear from my PI. 🙂 Thank you very much in advance 🙂 ↡ Advertisement

Wildfaye29 Turbocharged November 20, 2022 Author Share November 20, 2022 Forgot to mention that we have troubleshooted and checked all 4 wheel bearing and all fine Although there is feedback on Honda Fit having many wheel bearing issues, mainly rear, but for my case, not wheel bearings.

BoneStock 5th Gear November 20, 2022 Share November 20, 2022 @Wildfaye29 when you shift to neutral does the sound become softer and frequency reduced? Based on your mileage it is unlikely to be wheel bearing. More likely to be alternator.
