Actually what made "E" the alphabet to be chosen after S series run out?

It's quite random

@107fan apparently (and not verified) A, B, C and D had at that time (around 1970) been used in Malaysia for cars registered in Perak, Selangor, Pahang and Kelantan respectively. So the next ones "available" and would not overlap with the Malaysian registrations would be E and so on, and Singapore used E for cars, F for motorcycles and G for goods vehicles.

Makes a lot of sense

Malaysia choped H for their taxi too! Following the sequence...

Guessing (again) that it may be because the next few letters F and G are used in Singapore for motorcycles and goods vehicles, then H, J, K are used by Malaysia for taxis, Johor and Kedah vehicles respectively, it may be possible to do L but then it will finish in a run of 24 cycles from LA to LZ (excluding LI and LO since I and O are never used in any series), and after this, M, N, P are unavailable as they are used in Malaysia for Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Penang vehicles .. Q is used in Singapore for company cars and R is used in Malaysia for Perlis vehicles .. then we are back to S .. would also look like we are jumping all over the place using only what is "leftover" .. whereas restarting with S but with 3 letters instead of 2 would give a longer run - SBA started in 1984 and now after 40 years the series is still running. When it gets to SZZ it is anyone's guess what would be adopted.

Think that is R for restricted use within those places, and if i remember correctly is looks different from normal plates, so the chance of confusion is reduced.

Having said that it has not stopped Malaysia from using S for Sabah and Q for Sarawak vehicles ..

In theory, these vehicles are not supposed to be in Peninsula

This guy has some nice rides

I've seen his reels of the W126. Beautiful restored example, but he got into an accident, and it also broke down a few times

I wonder if he takes care of his cars? Don't want to speculate on the accident but please drive with care. Not a lot of nice examples left in SG.

Paiseh, got the car wrong since this car looks alike but later realised that it is not Steve Chia's car. His car plate starts with SBU, not SB. 😅

The car in the clip is an "S" whereas Steve Chia's is equivalent to a current "E".
