That goal matter alot , once they go behind, i think they cannot play their normal style anymore. they need to open up and chase the game.

That why I thought it was a bit questionable. And yes, the first goal is important, but I feel regardless who score first last night, Messi will still somehow put out a performance to win it.  I was rooting for Croatia, but looking at how Messi throws out all he has to outrun a top defender that is  15 years younger than him,  I am convince that if he has to crawl every inch of the pitch to win it, he will. 😄

Croatia is a party spoiler to an ideal bra-arg semi. But... if Brazil got thru there is a higher chance they could reach the final.

Both I can't relate.  I feel that the young M team has an edge,  but I probably hope the old M win as a grand closure to his illustrious career.

Me share same sentiment...not a a fan of outright speedster footballer...boh skill can only rely on speed to outrun opponent...Messi is one rare gem who can dribble out of almost all caged up situations...CR7 is similar but slightly lesser in that regard but boosted by his speed, height, strength and header...Neymar is a chicky dribbler, great with assist like Messi...but also like Messi, lack muscle or height for header

An era of great style footballers is cumming to an end...the previous one had Zidane, Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic...

The understated reason for Argentina's progress to this final is their coach called Lionel Scaloni.

His popularity in his home country is soaring because he is able to gel the present team players including ego-players like Messi, something unherald before. He is also supported by back room trainers who are all Argie top ex-players like Pablo Aimar, R Ayala W Samuel etc .

Of course the French coach  Deschamp is equally good at man management and attention to details.

My sentiment is that the French has won the last WC. Fair that Argentina get their moment of glory.

But it's really up to the hands of God to decide the winner this time round..... hahaha
