Mine simple 4 AT. My ignition coil so far ok after 1 piece replacment many years ago. These are cheap stuff anyway.

IMHO.
My last 4AT is from Aisin.  RAV4 also uses similar transmission.  No issue at 280k despite always drop "gear".   😆
That said,  I monitor the ATF closely and added DIY change because it uses dipstick.
I think moving forward, I unlikely will extend COE because my mileage can be close to 300k.
While the CVT has been proven by the PH's  Prius,  not sure on the maintenance duration.  Altis IIRC was 80k.

Better go back to serious discussion, COE cars vs new cars. 😄

IMHO, you need to do homework.

Prius is not CVT. The principles are totally different. Just that Toyota conveniently calls it e-CVT.

All the hybrids should be e-cvt now. Not That I knew what the earlier gen used.

Lot of mechanical ingenuity involved to get to these modern hybrid systems - 5th gen for Toyota, 3rd gen for Honda.

I apologise in advance if I'm out of topic, but I'm trying to figure out how to calculate the FULL cost of renewing COE.

From what I've read online, it seemed like I have to just pay the PQP amount? So let's say I want to renew a Cat B car with a PQP of 100k, I only have to pay this 100k? Are there additional cost to it? Cos it doesn't make sense that I can get a low Cat B car for the same price as a high Cat B car. Of cos, we are not calculating road tax, insurance etc. Just the car itself.

Thank you!

edit: I am also assuming the final price of the renewed COE car depends on supply and demand, right? so it's PQP + whatever people wanna sell at.

1) u the owner of the car? if so just pay PQP..

2) Buying from seller? just buy paper if near it's end of COE maybe plus body price then renew COE by paying PQP..

3) Buyer from Dealer? they will package with simi oso in.. meaning most expensive option in general

Total cost will be PQP + PARF foregone. Check this vs buying another used car.
