I may be wrong but it seems like the fire is spreading on the external facade, instead of within the building.

Facade material not fire resistance? Same as the case with the fire opposite IMM building couple of years back, which killed a woman in the stairwell.

I understand this Exterior Material are supplied by Chip Soon Aluminium, how is this Case now.?No News Chip Soon got Fine or not.?

Grenfell Towers in the UK was only 24 stories tall. The casualties for this tower will be several-fold greater if they were able to evacuate from the other side of the building untouched by the fire.

I remember the horrid Grenfell Tower tragedy …… claddings issue also  ….. if I’m not wrong …. Many casualties….

and also for fire fighter truck, i read somewhere the tallest firetruck ladder only can reach ard 15 storey

so the remaining storeys the firemen has to climb up to extinguish the flame

I don’t how how far the jets can shoot up ….. maybe a couple of floors up some more …… cannot imagine how the situation would be like those 100++ storey ones in Dubai and freaking hot weather and gusty winds fanning the flames 🔥

Don't the SCDF and BCA test the fire rating before they approve the installation? If the testing was cheated, then of course CSA is responsible. If no testing requirements, then big question on why liao.

From the video, the fire protection system and smoke free evacuation routes are good. Also they have done their homework on fire evacuation, no panic despite such a big fire. 👍

It happen before in SG a few years back and BCA & SCDF banned the materials plastic and polycarbonate.

If not mistaken, I think the building, Furniture Mall front lobby and also front of SCDF/Police NPC building at Queensway. :wut:

The only time I joined a high rise fire drill was when I worked in an office at level 32.

Took a while to reach assembly point.

Since then I decided to find a job in an office that's not too high.🤣

Or make appointment elsewhere during the day of fire drill😅

Up to 36 buildings affected by the flammable cladding material, including Our Tampines Hub.

36 buildings may have combustible cladding that do not meet safety rules; police report lodged

dw-cladding-180110.jpg?VersionId=nUMlm.8

A total of 36 buildings here, including an industrial complex in Toh Guan Road where a fire broke out in May resulting in one death, are using external cladding that may not adhere to safety standards in the Fire Code.

Of these, 15 are confirmed to be using combustible cladding that allow flames to spread quicker than they are supposed to.

They include the new Our Tampines Hub, parts of Singapore Polytechnic and luxury condominiums The Peak @ Cairnhill I and II.

The only news I can find with regards to the flammable cladding.

Parliament: No evidence at this stage that cladding certification is suspect, says Shanmugam

It is "too quick a conclusion" to call into question building certification over the cladding issue, said Home Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugam.

He told Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 10) that there is no evidence at this stage to suspect the certification process.

"One has got to be careful about jumping to conclusions at this point as to whether the entire certification system has been compromised, because the certification system relies on identifying international (and local) institutes of repute," he said.
