Oil consumption has been happening since the days of NA engine.

This is especially so in Singapore.

A lot of times, it happens to cars with short daily mileage like 20 - 30km.

my parents toyota wish, zero oil consumption. 2006-2016. 180k km 1owner. i DIY all the oil changes, except the first 2.

My previous MRS has the same engine.  During my 2+ year ownership, only did 1 oil change.

Update, rechecked my engine oil level, so far still at the same level as what it was after I topped up the 1L engine oil.

In the interim booked my servicing with the AD since it is due, spoke to the service advisor, was told that it is perfectly normal for mini/bmw especially the higher tuned engines. Was told to use 5w30 for the car since that is factory spec. I told him it is not easy to find that spec from the petrol stations, will the AD provide complimentary 1L bottles since servicing shld be free for 5 yrs. He said engine oil top ups not under the free servicing package. Then he back track and say 0w40 is fine for top up.... 😑

Eventually, I found a source from Shoppee to get a few bottles of 1L Castrol fully synthetic 5w30 to standby... Only $6++dollars per L...much cheaper than the Shell 0W40 at $40+/L😓

Yeah, me too.... I have driven and owned quite a range....never need to top up till now....

Asian cars: mazda 2.3NA, subaru 2.5TC, toyota 3.5 v6 hybrid, hyundai 2.0NA

Conti cars: mini 1.6 SC, saab 2.0 LPT, merc 3.5 V6 NA, merc 2.0TC

My wife's current mini 2.0TC in Cooper S tune also kenna  low engine oil warning once recently, but that is when she overlooked her 10km servicing interval and it is a 5yr car, so give and take kind of still within expectation.

My buddy's wife got one mini (second hand) within warranty, months later when warranty just expire. The piston broke and the car got to be towed back. He end up with a 17k damage.  End up he write to their engineering director and got a 6k discount🤣

Haha, my previous BMW once had the opposite problem. Oil level too high! Idrive told me to send in to service partner immediately. Not that agent overfilled the oil, rather, its fuel dilution due to part failure.

Quote

"Oil consumption is normal on all engines,"

This is a joke.

Good engines don't eat oil.

:D

People that are too stupid to signal

will believe any BS.

This is really bad.

That means petrol is seeping into the engine oil.

Not surprised you said its the ultimate driving machine.

:D

The excuses they give sounds more like the

ultimate excuse machines.

Mazda 2.2 diesel had this problem. Diesel got mixed into the engine oil. Quite some engines died as a result.

Crank case crack, radiator fluid seep into the engine oil?
