a "Stage 1 tuned" VAG car on the 7-speed dry clutch DSG is a surefire way of earning frequent workshop miles.

for VAG.. stock is best. but even that also bo bao reliable. heng suay one.

but a stage tuned one is sure to stress the gearbox, leading to premature failure.

It’s all abt Desirability & Reliability ,Realli.

And dun even go on abt Stg 1.

Its Nvr abt Heng Suay or not it’s all abt Sooner or Later, dats all.

Hear enuff Horror stories abt the Double Clutch & the Dry ones are even worse.

If u are passionate enuff ,nobodies gonna stop u ,like I have a mate who owns a R56 mini ,in his word not mine ,visit Wshop ,every month.

Hello Everyone,

Updates for March 2023.

Yes, i just bought a golf (2015) after looking around for a few months!

The car is in a good condition so no repairs for now, sending it for a respray sometime next week. The drive is absolutely great compared to my previous Honda Fit.

Given MCF culture, I reckon i be receiving PMs or comments foretelling my mechatronic is due for replacement soon.

The drive of the golf is much better than the fit, youre trading away reliability for more comfort and driving dynamics plus  more tech in the car

Everything is great for now. Enjoy first!😁

I suggest don respray first.. drive for few more months.. not saying it will breakdown or wat.. generally when taking over a used car i will assess longer before putting more money to it..

The rest of the valves got a bit of chip. So sooner or later the rest also piang. I blame it on shitty German engineering. Stock car valves also can piang. Lousy to the limit.
VW also have had numerous piston piang.

It is bundled together along with the purchase of the car!!  Currently the car has serious discoloration with stone chips and door dings all around like Dolby atmos.

I got the 1.4 one! he is currently on 18" Rims, Eibach/Blistein B12 Pro Kit, Fox exhaust and AP Racing BBK!

Intending to leave the engine bay as stock as possible but its very tempting to get a LEYO intake together with the charge pipe.

Dont mod anything until you are familiar with the car,  otherwise if you encounter problem after mod, you dont know whether it is an inherited problem or is it due to the mod.
