6 people were arrested for car thefts from Jurong and Boon Lay carparks, including 16-year-old teen

SINGAPORE: A 14-year-old was among six men arrested for their suspected involvement in two cases of car theft, the police said on Wednesday (Aug 17).

The police had received reports on Monday that two cars were stolen from car parks at Jurong West Street 52 and Boon Lay Drive.

"Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTVs (closed-circuit television), officers from Jurong Police Division, Clementi Police Division, Police Operations Command Centre, Criminal Investigation Department and Police Intelligence Department established the identities of the six men," said the police.

The suspects, aged between 14 and 32, were arrested on Monday and Tuesday.

The two stolen cars were recovered, said the police, adding that the six men will be charged in court on Wednesday and Thursday with theft of motor vehicles with common intention.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.

I think it's time to increase the sentencing for juvenile offenders and lower the age limit. No more probation or rehabilitation centres. With Cat A COE at 87K and Cat B at 112K, no one is messing with my car! 😅

What do they do with the stolen cars?

Break up and sell the parts or export to Africa?

They cannot sell as used cars right?

Stealing is wrong but since people will steal

can they please steal cars with high COEs?

We need to protect cars with low COEs

and keep them on the road as long as possible.

If you want to scrap a low COE car please sell to me

and I will fix it up and sell to people that cannot afford

a new COE car.

Dont say until like there are so many juvenile cime cases, this may be  an isolated  case.  In fact we are so safe that, when i read the title, for a while  i thought there is a place in JB called Jurong. 😁😁

When I was 14yo I was assembling 1:10 Tamiya remote control car. The car battery is like two dynomite sticks put together. Now 14yo involved in stealing cars. How times have changed. 😅

Times really changed a lot liao. Now young young kids so smart and know so many things as compared to last era young kids who dont know much things only until when older. Same like nowadays youngsters barely only around late 20s already earning $5k, whereas only around 15 years ago, people in late 20s salary only around $3k. Lol.
