Why mix match parts from diff models?

Think there are those replica made in TW/China afterparts, at least they are made to the right model...

I see the car every now and then at Changi South. Its not so much a mix-and-match parts special, Its a V123, modified to look like a V115. I reckon a huge amount of work and effort went into making it look like the way it is.

Perhaps the owner likes the more trad and regal looks of the W/V115 but cannot find a suitable one? Or perhaps he prefers the more modern mechanicals of the W/V123?

But W123's Fuel Filler is on the Rear Right Side, this Car Fuel Filler is on the Back above the Bumper like W115...this one not easy to modify..

Or maybe the Front Bonnet/Grill & Lights Section & Rear Boot are from a "Donated" W115,while the Passenger's Middle Section from W123.?

Need to see the right side of the car to see if the filler flap is there. But I am pretty certain the rear wheel arches and the boot is from a W123.

Think most people go to Selegie House that parts supplier right? Sing Tat or the one beside...can't remember the name. They have old merc parts.
