brandonyuen 2nd Gear September 9, 2022 Share September 9, 2022 Would a VW Phaeton be considered uncommon? At first glance, I actually thought it was a Chrysler 300C. 😅 Might have been the big wheels and flared wheel arches... ↡ Advertisement

This Phaeton,is a failure Worldwide, that time in 2001,VW wanted to make a VW & match with Mercedes Benz S-Class,BMW 7 Series & their Own Group Audi A8,it never really sold well, even in Germany,i still went for it's Launch in Singapore at the Esplanade, when VW just took over from Peter Kwee's Hand.

BTW do you still that "VIP" badge on your Fit? Oh yes. Until now no one has spotted it. Only some Malaysian guys were saying it aloud when they saw it near the Woodlands Check Point many years ago. It is not the top speed that matters.. .. It is how fast one reach the intended speed and how stable and easy it is to reach that speed.

Well, compare a E200 & a E63s,0-100Km/h is of course faster by 3 secs, but stable.?,,,almost the same...and don't ask me why i get an M240i instead of a 218i,i get the M240i just because i like the sound of a 6 Cyls Engine. It is not just the 0-100kph, it is also the 60-100kph, in gear acceleration, power on demand that matters in city driving and overtaking maneuvers. Increased stability comes with the wider track of the M/AMG/RS (resulting in wider fenders) vs the normal variant, addition of 4 wheel tractions (whether full time or part time) as well as limited slip differentials. These are not easily modified from base models. The more easily modified aspects are the sports suspension and the wheels/tyres. So, when people say, why need to spend so much more for higher power versions of a car since singapore is so small and limited to 100kph, well, these people probably have not experience the higher power variant themselves on long term basis. I get it if the person has other priorities in life and decided to just get the base model, to each his own, but there is really no need to upbadge unless it is like their christmas wish list. To be absolutely honest, if money is not an issue, I would have gone for the RS6 just for the performance, exhaust sound, practicality, rarity and sleeper status. Who cares if I am stuck in traffic jams, even the idling note is fantastic... And once the road opens up... Whoo hoo! IL6 definitely sound nice on hi rev ↡ Advertisement
